I am sitting here watching the outdoor channel, and this guy is turkey hunting. He calls the huge bird over, and then drops him full choke, at about four yards. My question is how do you get all the shot out of the bird?

I've shot most of mine in the head. Very little shot in the body.

That's the turkey kill zone, head & neck.

This goes for all wing shot bird.
When cleaning the bird, you look for wounds and try and find the pellets in the meat.
When eating, you chew gently; especially since the advent of steel shot.

But, as mentioned for turkey - the hits should be head and neck.

This guy shooting blasted it in the side. I didn't know if there was a boiling technique, or if it's just a nice addition of shot to the turkey, and gravy. Dentist visit afterwords.

I've always wondered, on say ducks or pheasant, how much shot goes through the bird and how much shot stays in?

It depends on a lot of different things.:p
