I think that calguns' semi-regular NRA bashers and the associated threads are fantastic for the general readership.
the same tired arguments and whining about the worlds premier gun rights organization are easily defeated and those calgunners who would rather read than post get to see the whole thing played out over and over.
viewers get to see us spell out how important the NRA has always been and continues to be to our rights in the United States, here in California and even to Calguns.net
thanks! keep it coming. Long live the NRA!

Who else is anywhere near as effective as NRA? Anyone? Bill Clinton was not moaning about GOA now was he?
What about the mythical S550?
Mine came with my paid Lifetime Membership. Didn't you get yours?

One major problem with the pro 2A community. Too much diversity. Not everyone is on the same page.

Still waiting on ANY documentation about that fabled S550.

Fact:
Bush Jr. --who favored renewal of the AWB during both his campaigns and throughout his reign in the White House-- was endorsed by the NRA twice for the Presidency.
You can dismiss that as "whining" to this supposed read-only audience, but don't delude yourself into thinking you've defeated this wholly objective point.

Agreed.
Let's make it an even better organization by recognizing that the cracks in its facade of perfection are worthy of repair.
It'd be nice if I could say that I'm a proud member of the NRA, rather than one who's a reluctant, closeted dues-payer.

Exactly - a little dissent and honest criticism help keep an organization "honest" and on track with the mission. Praise the NRA where they deserve it, and castigate them when they earn that also. The last thing they need is a bunch of unthinking "yes men" for members. I have been strongly critical of the NRA in the past, even to the point of having dropped my membership for a couple of years. Now, I am giving them a second chance and trying to be supportive in every way appropriate. They need to win some court cases now that Heller/Gura have done the heavy lifting. I'll be watching and will reward them with bonus donations when they have a "win". If they fumble the ball I will not be happy and will probably find another more competent organization to reward with my support. But for now, I've declared a Jubilee and am giving them my support until they give me a (fresh) reason not to.

As mentioned in another thread, they need to drop the camo and have a real everyday person PR campaign and get more people in the checkout line than from the firing line. More People magazine, Maxim, Sports Illustrated, and TV Guide readers rather than being 100% fixated on Outdoor Life readers.

Jacques is right! You ever hear the term of devide and conquer? Get with the program and get on the same page!
The NRA, with all of its faults, is the best game in town, if not the only game in town. Do you think that 3 1/2 to 4 million members may give us some leverage? Do they always do it like we hink they should? No.
And, as it was so helpfully pointed out to me some years, there are only two real choices available in any election in this country. Democrat and Republican. (The other parties have zero chance of winning). Sure, more often then not, both really suck and they run government the same screwed up way. However, if you dont vote for or endorse the lesser of the two evils, then you can bet your are actually voting or endorsing for the worst of these two evils! Its not rocket science my friends....
