View Full Version : What to buy...5.45 vs 5.56 vs. 7.62?

Hello, I put this thread in the Ammo and Reloading catigory, but I am not getting any response. Should I buy some 7.62 ammo for romy build which I haven't yet started. Some more 5.45 ammo from Rguns (already have 1 crate) before the price increase at the end of the month. Or should just grit my teeth and buy some 5.56, seeing that the wideners 350 shipped special is gone and Palmetto seams to be out of stock. My AR is working and I only have 360 rounds left after taking it out for the first time. Thanks for you replies in advance!

Well, I bet you're going to get three answers...which means you better buy three types of ammo...

5.45 is definitely a winner, that's where my money is going.

Probably, but then again, I only have my AR up and running right now. I can always get an 5.45 upper for the other lower I have waiting to be built. I don't have any ak74 parts kits, but will be able to buy them next month. And I have 1 romy build and 2 amd-65's without barrels that I am waiting for Cope's to come through with.

Leaning that way, I feel that there is not going to be any ban in the near future, and as soon as we get out of Iraq, and we are only fighting one war, we will have an influx of 5.56 on the market. But any type of russian ammo will be cutoff if there is some sort of escalation in rhetoric between the U.S. and Russia.

There's no right answer here. I'd make sure I had enough on hand of what I can shoot, though.

Buy NOW that which is CHEAP :)
For that which is cheap, rarely stays that way :(
