This is my first AR build and yes I have the BB all the parts will be here in 7 days. My question is what brand 10 round mag should I get? Don't like the looks of the 30 rounders, so something short 20 rounds or less "look". I also like black.

c products 10 rounders with magpul follower. they are good quality and low profile. they are finished the same as a standard USGI mag. i have good luck with them

SS promags are great too w/magpul follower. good looks, finished glossy. i love mine

haven't had good luck with the pmag in 20rnd . looks awesome, but followers are flawed in 2 of mine.

[you could modify a pmag 30 down to a 10 rounder pretty darn easily. and you cant beat the looks or reliability]

most others ive tried are the longer 10/30

if you like black definitely pick up the pmag 20 rounders and do the mag body and follower modifications and finish it off with a ranger base plate.

i strongly advise against the pmag 20 round follower. use a 30 round follower

does the "10 round body" with 30 round follower make a perfect 10 round mag?

get a few of each try em out.
I also have a lancer mag that I put a pmag follower in.
Pmags pwn on feeding and durability.

yes the 30 rd followers are better.

Capt, come by our shop in Costa Mesa - we have a bunch of different AR mags you can look at. The PMag 20's are pretty scarce right now - I don't know anybody that has the black in stock at the moment.

for all purposes across the board, i would say yes.

if someone came along and produced a pmag 10/10 i think it would be the hottest selling item out. i also think they would be more durable since they would flex less than a normal pmag (less material) combine that with a pmag 30 round follower i dont think you could beat it.

david, i think you know what to do! :)

C-Products 10 rounders work great and they are cheaper than most others. I have 20 C-products and 2 Bushmasters and I cannot tell the difference except for the floor plate.

That's because C-P makes the BM mags.

C-P is always hit or miss. Sometimes their mags are perfect, other times they're lemons. It's like production falls asleep a couple months per year.

Their 10/20s are cheap and work well (when they're made right) and IMHO about the perfect size. They come with Magpuls, too.

All the PMags I have work and run perfectly.

ProMags actually work well, too. I just hate their finish.

HK mags are incredible, but they are unfortunately very pricey.

Dustin at Ammo Bros. said that Tango Down is planning on releasing a polymer mag soon that will blow away the PMAGs--anybody else heard about this?

They were shown a good while ago...

They're modular in design. The "floorplate" is actually the bottom 1/2 of the mag. It can either be a 5, 10, 20 or 30rd mag, depending on the plate. They also seal into the magwell, reducing crap getting in that way.

I'm not sure what will make them blow away PMags, though. PMags are loved because they're cheap, durable and run 100%.
