2 simple questions;

1. Want to upgrade to 1pc. 20 MOA base, is 10fp .308 model short action or medium action? (till now I only knew of short/long action).
Here's the place I am ordering from:

2. Is 18X magnification sufficient enough for 1000yrd man size targets? (only shot to 600-700yrd so far).

-TIA

Man-sized target = 19" shoulder-to-shoulder, that is ~2MOA @ 1000yds

So, if you can see 2MOA, then u are good.

To make the hit, a minimum of 9x or 10x will work.... so you can work from there... since quality of glass is MORE important than just the magnification.... you probably can see further and better with an USO 10x than a Tasco 25x....

10x will work at 1000 yards, but I wouldn't want to go much lower than that. Like Jicko said, optical quality is very important at that range. I can get hits with my Leapers at 1000, but I have a hell of a time seeing the impacts of the shots that miss. Using a quality scope like Nightforce though allows you to clearly see impacts and adjust fire accordingly.

Another option for bases and rings is TPS, they have 20MOA aluminum bases for Savage in stock here: http://www.tpsproducts.com/product_info.php?cPath=1_3&products_id=118

Their rings are also an excellent deal for the price.
