It seems that grafs and powder valley are the one players in this game even with the hazmat fee figured in I live in the Los Angeles Valley and Santa Clarita and the Angeles Reloading Store has everything hiked up 40% minimum. Any other recommendations? for one an 8 pound jug of imr4895 and 1000 cci200 is 280 from grafs even with the hazmat and shipping. At angeles is 325 for just a 8 pound jug of imr4895. Any local stores that have good prices in my area or should i just stick to powder valley and grafs. I honestly don't mind paying a few dollars extra to support a small business for, but a hike up of 40% is ridiculous

Are you sure IMR 4895 was $325 at Angeles reloading store ? He is higher but i have never seen a 8lb for over $300. Usually its $30 to $40 more than the internet at that store. Buying online you have to buy more to offset the fees and shipping. Or watch the reloading sale section. You might get lucky.

Check out Phillips Wholesale- https://www.phillipswholesale.com/

Also, for ordering online you can try to get a few people to go in with you on a large order. I might be down for a couple 8 lb jugs since your in the LA area.

See if you have a bass pro near you.

For me I use ship to store and there is no hazmst fee on that. When it's ready I just go in and pick it up.

But I don't order 8lbs jugs just a few 1lbs for different types and most basspros have a decent selection but you are required to go to the shooting section for it and primers.

Don't believe Philipp's ships. Could be wrong. Midsouth shooters, and Cheaper than dirt no longer ship to Ca., if I read correctly. Check this out to be sure.

Getting a group of friends together to max out Haz/Shipping is the only way to do this. People will share some of their sources but last time during the panic it was rare to find people recommending anything but the places everyone already knew of. I have a bookmark folder with 24 websites that deal in supplies, just start building up your source list, you'll need it.

Every year the price of components go up. That's how you save - you save by locking-in the price ;)

Yeah, but do the opportunity cost to see if you are saving your time and fuel cost by just buying a few things at time. Buy in bulk :D

A few years ago i hit up the gun show a couple time (San Diego and Costa Mesa). Bought about 15lb of powder and 15k of primers then bulk boxes of Hornady bullets plus others.

Just plan accordingly and go from there.

Your only choices I know of are Oak Tree Gun Club reloading store or ASR. Both are high, but convenient. I have bought very little from either, and prefer to buy in bulk on sales... Costa Mesa had really good primer prices a few years ago and I stocked all the Win I could afford. They've been quite a bit higher since.

If I max out then that is about a 6-7 month supply. Powder Valley just had CCIs come in recently. Got 20K of CCI #500 and 28 lbs of N320. With the amount of primers I already had I am good for the next 7 months. So, will order again in May.

Agreed. I have a growing list of online retailers (many of which are listed in the internet reloading sites sticky). Midsouth is usually at the top of the list for best online ordering prices (including the Hazmat & shipping cost).
I have learned to be as patient as practical and wait for sales / special promo codes.

Yes I maxed out weight when midsouth was doing free shipping before Christmas. Had the hazmat only, which was great.

Believe it or not Brunos Shooters Supply has reduced prices!Combine with a free offer for hazmat or shipping, and they can be a good deal.

The easy part is buying a ton of components at one time to save hazmat. The hard part is turning around and letting yourself sell off the excess to get your money back. It's not that people won't buy it, it's that once you have a mountain of powder and primers, you won't want to let them go :chris:

You generally get pretty good prices at the gunshows. Miwall has a reloading component booth at some of the larger shows and sells primers at the smaller ones. Better prices than you can get online generally.
