Oh, guess what I got in the mail today?!?!?!
After my long wait I finally got my JAE G2 stock for my M1A.
I ordered it back in June, it was a long wait but worth the wait. Nicely packed.
It's beautiful! What a great trick or treat present!
Thanks Lisa! (^0^)

Wow! you guys are good!
X-NewYawker, no fair I think you cheated....;)
I got a Sadlak scope mount, Badger Ordnance rings & this old Springfield Armory 1st Gen scope: 4-14x56 great scope! bought it back when SA offered it in their loaded program, to bad they stop carrying it. I can't seem to find it anywhere. It has a built in leveler, & range finder, big objective.

I think that scope's the same as the Horus scope that was around then. I had one. It was a good scope.
Sadlak and Badger are just about the best that you can get -- now -- I would have slapped that thing together by now, all crooked and sht --

When you stop buying Anime toys you can save up for a Leupold IV or a Nightforce.

Nice looking stock. Makes me want to get one for my Remigton....

I have that same Springfield scope on my Savage 10FP right now. I really like the reticle, the holdover points are very close if not dead on with most factory 168gr HPBT loads. Even out to 1000 yards it isn't off by much. My only complaint with it is the glass itself. My leapers accushot scope actualy has clearer glass by a long shot :(

They told me I can add it on later, I also wanted to get the butt spike too. But I wanted to see how much of a improvement it would be just with the stock. besides it was starting to get pricy with all the add-on.

The build was pretty easy! I finished last night but, I couldn't take a picture of it on the dinning table was all the trick-or-treaters running around;)
I'll be posting pics soon.....

Just noticed that Flash Suppressor -- are you AW? Call SA or one of the Calguns boys and get a legal Muzzle brake if not.

btw, is it easy to switch out the muzzle? I know SA has the kit when you buy the ca muzzle.

X-NewYawker

Easy as pie -- you need their special wrench/pliers, loosen, pull, replace -- I had to take some pictures with a non cal muzzle recently -- just switched them out at the range.

Excuse my ignorance, does adding that stock make it AW? I have an m1a and after seeing that stock am ready to get it, but don't want to add a mag lock or not be able to use my preban normal cap mags.

X-NewYawker
11-02-2008, 5:59 PM
Before someone tells you to "search the site>' the JAE stock is NOT a pistol grip as defined by CA law -- it does not make the M1a and AW -- HR1022 does that if (god forbid) it ever passes.

Stock keeps the web of your hand over the top of the trigger guard --

Ohhhh....! very nice! you got it with the adjustable cheek rest. Cha-ching! $$$
I thought about getting it too but once I set the cheek rest at where "I" like it, I have intentions to accommodate it for other people.

Luv the scope mount! I had a Gen-3 mount. Hatted it!:ack2:
the specs are very tight, each one was QC by hand and handwritten approved.

Uhh, M1A is from the M14 which is a Korean war era? Could be wrong.

Uhh, M1A is from the M14 which is a Korean war era? Could be wrong.

The ACTION of the 1950's M-14 is basically the action of the 1940's WWII M-1 Garand with the addition of a detachable magazine -- heck -- the stock design is almost identical expet for simplifying the forened. Beretta GREAT BM-59 is their version -- they took Garand tooling and adapted it to take their (the best) magazines.

It's the way that turns of the century turnbolts like the original mauser are updated into Blaser Tacticals and such

Seriously, great looking rifle. If you are going to go with the SA muzzle break, PM me. You can have the one I took off my scout squad (if I can find it). It only has 60 rounds thru it. It won't have the front sight or castle nut, those are with my SEI CG muzzle break.

Or better yet, get the SEI Coast Guard break like AlohaRover

SEI's a nice muzzle break, but man! how come they cost so much for such a ugly item?!
As you can see I'm not use to the muzzle breaks, is SEI the best on the market? what other different style of MB are there?

I completely agree. I had it on my rifle and took it off after a few months just because it took sooo much away from the "look" of an "m14" style rifle (in my opinion). The fact that they are short and fat is what does it. I swapped it out for an SAI brake.

The only other aftermarket break I have 1st hand knowledge about is SEI's CA Comp (what I currently have mounted on my scout), but you have to mount your front sight on the gas lock.

The only other breaks, besides SEI and SA, that I know of are the ones made by LRB. They have a muzzle break ($100) and a dummy flash suppressor ($80). Troy Industries also makes one, but I'm not sure if it's considered a break or a flash suppressor.

I see......
Is it just me? but I noticed that when I looked at CrazyJeeps photos, the M1A/M14 looks so balanced with the long bird cage that when you put a short/fat//stubby comp on it throws it off?!?! The SA comp (being longer) kinda brings back that classic look. :detective:

X-NewYawker

honestly it ISN'T an "M-14" with out that (of course) banned flash hider. Ew, it makes it SO much more dangerous...

No, it's not just you, the SEI break is definitely short and fat and I do agree that the SA break does look better as it has the same (or similar) dimensions to the original flash suppressor. The SEI break does work but is it that much better, and worth the extra $45 over the SA? I'm not sure. I just bought it to try it out. If you really don't like the looks, just get the SA break or the dummy flash suppressor from LRB, they cost about the same.
