This being my first build, I don't want to do anything stupid, so I had a quick question:

I know that some of the pin sizes differ from time-to-time on certain lowers/uppers but will I be able to use a DPMS Panther arms 24" upper with a 1 in 8" twist on an LMT lower?

Please forgive my ignorance... :o

In most cases you only have to worry about pin sizes when it comes to Colts.

When it comes to lowers, as long as you avoid a cast receiver, you should be good-to-go. Personally, I'd go with LMT. ;)

Just wondering why not LMT lower (with SOPMOD) AND upper?

But he may have the DPMS upper already.

What configuration upper were you going to get from DPMS? What does it cost (does it include BCG, Sights, etc.?)

If the LMT M4 16" interests you, you can get an upper receiver w/ handguards, charging handle and standard BCG for a little over 600 bucks, perhaps less in cost than the DPMS 24". Might have to wait a little since they are quick out the door when vendors get 'em in stock. I have this upper and it's excellent. But I don't think LMT has a 24" rifle upper. They have the MRP 16" rifle upper, but for a lot more money.

If you want a verminter barrel like that you can't go LMT -- although I have an 18 inch stainless ordered to replace my 16 inch.

Sorry, didn't see that part of your post.

Compared to the DPMS website quote ($664) for that upper, $499 is a deal.
Make sure it includes the BCG...
