I don't know who makes the cover, BUT I LIKE IT AND WANT ONE!!:D
It looks very cool untill you see how much the damn things move around. Not a good place to mount a scope. Look at the Ultimak system. I run one and it does not matter how hot the rifle gets the point of impact does not change.
Sorry for the crappy pict but you get the idea.

Pretty sure this is it. (http://akpartskits.com/cart/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=19&zenid=0002153f3b25ebbc16b18eb36cec3334)
Wouldn't trust zero for magnified optics, but it might be okay for <150m iron sight use. There are some threads here and on the various AK forums about securing the top cover to accommodate the AR style peep sights.

It's too bad they didn't build it like this one so it's mounted tight... would be nice to have a rear peep instead of the AK sight.
maybe I just don't want to pay for this:

Like it has been said before, the cover rails are all right for mounting optics as long as you understand that they WILL move around significantly. The best options are a side rail, the ultimak gas tube mount (although the eye releif is way to wierd for my tastes) or one similar to a beryl style AK like the one UCLA posted. Heres a picture of a true beryl. IMHO, this is the way to go with AKs.

Just kidding. I dig the Ultimak and the Beryl-style mounts, but I use a traditional side plate system. It was $9, installed during the build and works great.
