So I was loading up my magazines when I found this in a box of IMI M193:

Casing is gashed open and you can even see a granule of powder stuck in the gap. Would this have caused rapid uncontrolled disassembly of a rifle if I hadn't noticed it and fired it?

Came from Lot 00211/G, mfg in 2015. Also found a round without the apparent annealing coloration on the neck. I'm assuming a non-annealed casing should be fine to use.

Worst case if you fired it you would have a stuck case.

Not a big deal.

Let the manufacturer know

They usually appreciate the information with free ammo or swag
for being nice about it

Thanks, I've sent an email to IMI SCAD with the photo. To be safe, I'll set aside this round for now.

Ya. The brass case is just a gasket.

That could potentially cause a pressure drop and a squib. Definitely wouldnt raise pressure.

It also might seal up and shoot just fine, maybe just end up being a flier.
