I have enough room in the budget for one more piece.
I've narrowed it down to these two pistols that have slowly made their way to the top of the "buy list". But I'm seriously stumped on which to get. I've handled and shot a p6, not the HK. Thanks for the input. The HK is a v1

I have owned a few P6's. Great guns, but spare parts, extractors mainly, are becoming near impossible to find. I'd go with the HK personally, though my choice would be 9mm. I purchased a P2000 a month ago and am so far very pleased.

That being said, would you just recommend sacking up and buying a 226?

Owned a few P6's Owned a few HK's P2000, P7, P7M8, USP 45,
Recently shot a USP 40 Compact. Didn't like it in 40sw. But its sweet in 9mm.

I had credit at a local gun shop so I just purchased an HK USP 9mm Compact. I like HK a lot a trustworthy hammer driven pistol.
THAT SAID... If they had a P6 in the counter I would have got that instead...
So... I'd get the P6 Put P225 springs in it and enjoy it.
I gave up my last P6 to pay for a wedding... and miss that gun...
I've had a lot of Sigs and Glocks.. The P6 for me is something special it's "just right" Not for everyone.. YMMV.

Good luck in your choice...

Had a chance to shoot P6 from a fellow Calgunner and have to say it is now my favorite Sig. It's like wearing an old favorite shirt, that's how much I like it. No experience with USP though.

Sig P6's are special guns! I had a nice one and sold it! I didn't give it the value it deserved. I looked for a long time until another one came around. As mentioned they are getting harder and harder to find. I think people are starting to recognize them as "keepers" and holding on to them.

If you do end up buying the P6 realize that some P6's don't shoot some of the heavier JHP's well due to the feed ramp, nothing a a little feed ramp work can't fix. I believe Sig changed the feed ramp sometime in 1989. P6's also only hold 8 rounds in the magazine 2 less than most California handguns.

I am sure the USP 40 is a GREAT gun but if I saw a P6 next to it in a gunstore showcase I would pick the P6 every time even with its short comings.

Good luck! 5.56Geo

Shoot a full size Usp 40 you will lover it . Own one and people who shoot it comment on it being one of the best pistols they have shot how they shoot it better than whatever they own . Down fall is price of mags and aftermarket is limited compared to others . It is one of the few pistols designed specifically for 40 s@w , this fact makes it shine . But I have no experience with that particular Sig .

I like my P6. Very reliable and easy to shoot well.

I sold a P225 to a friend who didn't like it and resold it.

That was the worst sale I've ever made. I miss that pistol

Depends on what guns you already own.

P6. Although I wish it had a safety not a decocker. It holds less rounds than the HK. I like the rear black sights. The overall 'feel' and trigger of the P6 is what seals it for me. The USP's trigger is a little further than I like. If it's just a range gun then it may not be a big concern.
