How and where do you store your Powder ?

Anyone store their Powder in the bedroom Closet ?
I usually have about 12 1lb containers of smokeless and 5 1lb. containersof Black Powder on hand.
I do not have a spare room and the Garage gets alot of humidity.
How do you store yours ?

In a big ice chest in the barn. Ice chest regulates the temp very well.

Yep, just like that, in the closet of an unused room, on the floor.

Is a garage that bad? What problems can I have if it get a bit of humidity?

I have a small reloading room in the garage that's fully insulated, it stays pretty consistant temp wise and is dry.

Seems to me if the cans are air tight and the lids are screwed on tight that humidity should not be a problem. I store a small amount in my reloading room and the rest is outside in a insulated storge trailer. But would I not store black powder in my house let alone or in my garage in that amount.

I just throw it all in the closet next to the gas hot water heater.

J/K. I have it stored in a powder magazine in my "gun room":D

I've stored smokeless powder in my reloading room in my house for 20+ years with no problems. Some is in the shipping box and some not.
I wouldn't put it in the garage if I didn't have to and I wouldn't store as much as i do now either. Just so it didn't have to be out there that long.

Mine is on a shelf in my reloading room, a spare bedroom in my apartment. If I get to 20 lbs, I'll be looking at building a fireproof box for it in the same room.

I bought a 20 M.M.ammo can. I store it with a couple of bags of descant air tight, steel, latches on each side you get the picture. i have about 6 lbs of smokeless in 1lb. cans and a little less than 1 lb of black powder and about 1800 primers. I am more concerned about the primers then powder.

What happens in a house or garage fire? Will the ammo can split open letting the gas vent? Or am I worrying about something that isn't dangerous?
