Is there anywhere I can go for some good cottontail hunting (besides my parents' lawn) in San Diego, preferably in north county? Are the rabbit around here healthy and ok for eating? Thanks.

I've seen a few at Mc Cain Valley and in Cleaveland National Forest. It's a good idea to get an updated map from BLM to ensure you stay on public land.

Shot two cottontails on Eagle Crest Rd in Julian last year.

I am interested in this as well. Never been, but I have my .22 ready :43:

Probably a dumb question, but what's the deal with fire restrictions? Is it possible to shoot on public land in Socal during the fall?

Can you HUNT in San Diego COUNTY?!

Sure, why not? Lots of places are off limits but there are plenty of places within county lines that allow hunting.
