View Full Version : How has the economy changed your gun purchasing plans?

Title says it all.

Originally I was thinking about purchasing a GSG-5 (please no Airsoft insults please), but realized with all the recent economic news I am better off saving. I do think I should load up on ammo, should the worsening economy lead to increased violent crime.

What changes have you made to purchasing plans?

Home/personal defense guns might be a smart ticket in more densely populated areas.....

Me too. I think that with all the new purchase options since Jan 2007, I haven't been decisive enough to fluff the collection......it was so much easier when the decision was "oh, I want a semi-auto rifle, I guess i'll buy a ruger or M1a".......

Had to sell a few this past year. Reloading to save on cost of ammo. Bought a couple just cause some deals are way to hard to pass up.

I just got back into shooting again at the beginning of the year, after a 16-year dry spell of no guns (no economic or legal reason, I just wasn't as interested as I had been before). Basically, I was starting from scratch on the armory. The only thing I had was a stack of 30rd AR mags that I'd had left over from my Army days. Made for some difficult choices because I'd set some gun goals for the year with a pretty damned limited budget. The goals are more important to me than the budget at this point, need to get to a bare minimum armory.

Once I get about 1k of XM193 and either a Romy G or Tantal kit, I'll be done for the year. I'll still have to buy stuff after Jan 1 to flesh out those goals but it'll be easier to work on it.

Less money=fewer guns and gun goodies/year. I bought 2 AR-15s and 1 .308 AR last year and this year Im gettin a Bulgy-74 built by FEDUPWBS. Romanian PSL and Yugo M70 are on my wish/maybe list for this year.

I was looking into buying a couple vintage Colt SAA as an investment and figured it was prolly better to save me money since they would not be a very liquidable asset should I need the cash in the next few years :(

Other than the w.German P226 I have in Dros, and a 9mm 1911, I'm probably done for this year unless something exceptional shows up at the local gun stores and is a good deal.

I"m considerring buying more ammo, since there isn't a right to keep and bear Ammo.

Not the economy, but a recent layoff at work made me think about what if I was next? So I've been concentrating on saving money for a potential layoff. Good thing I had stocked up earlier this year - since I've gotten my C&R, I've picked up about 10 firearms. Any others will have to wait until the job situation solidifies.

A couple cases of ammo and two scopes have come this year. The one and only fire arm purchased this year a Handi 308 Ultra Hunter single shot rifle that's "Finally" on it's way!
I need to dump some Mil Sup's and pistols when I get around to taking pictures and posting them to fund other projects. -g

Will you sell them to me with the same value drop of the DOW?:D

I am buying a shotgun. But I need one to start collecting all the stuff I need for 3-gun anyway. It has been in the back of my mind for awhile though. Crime will surely go up.

I'm not going to slow down due to the economy or change what I'm going to buy in next 3 to 6 months, especially with the great possibility that the next president will be President Barack Hussain Obama.

If your in the position where you're forced to use the butt stock or bayonet on your rifle to try to inflict severe injury on your enemy, then you're in some deep barn yard waste.
