I was at a local gun shop and they mentioned getiing a "416" in the near furure for about $2,500.00 and being not sure if it was a Barrett of an Armalite. Given price structure and that the 338 Lapua is an almost necked down 416 Rigby, it occured to me that Armalite may be offering their AR 30 in 416 caliber. Anyone have info?

The 416 Barrett round is based upon the .50 BMG. I don't think the AR30 receiver is going to be adequate. I think if Armalite is going with a .416 rifle, they would use their AR50 platform.

Price point would indicate Amalite. Barrett's would be 4000+

You know what, I may have seen a .416 Armalite at a Turners. I can't remember which one.

I agree - would have to be on the AR 50 action if it's the necked down BMG round. I don't know of any current 416 caliber rounds that would be worthwhile out of the shorter AR30 length action.

I've heard nothing of an AR30 in 416.
