Bushmaster Fall sale.

16in Carbine M4 Upper Receiver
http://www.bushmaster.com/fall/Default.asp

I've never built a rifle before, I usually get my rifles complete,
but want to build my own this time...

I'm particularly wondering if you guys think this is good deal?
I've heard some debate about the carbine vs mid length...??

Anyone have some pics of their rifle with this upper?
I'll look at some mid lengths too!

FYI: I did search this upper, and I am currently reading..."results 1 to 25 of 232"

i got several Bushie uppers and lowers.. one upper had a slight 1 inch blemish but i took care of that on my own. overall, they are excellent.

make sure U check the bolt carrier , make sure it's properly staked.

U should worry more about the staking techniques from different MFgs.

i copied this from an older thread:

i found these two thread very informative:

I purchased this upper two days ago, just waiting to get it at this point.

couldn't pass up such a good deal with it also being my first ar15 build i didnt see the need to go crazy with a 1,300 upper.

cant wait for it to get to me :)

Personally I prefer to have a mid-length gas system on a 16" barrel. If you want a short M4 style upper I would recommend one with a 14.5" barrel and a permanent hider or brake.

That said, it is a pretty good price and I'm sure it will shoot fine.

Hey thanks for the advice...

Yea I actually already have a 11.5 / 5.5 and like it very well, but at the sale price, I couldn't resist to diversify my collection.. lol !..

It's a good price but Riflegear and TPF have CMMG uppers for only $50 more. I'd take the CMMG over the bushieplus you have the option of a midlength.

What twist rate is it? 5.56 chamber?

standard bush upper is 5.56 in 1:9 twist

unless it is the DCM then it would be a 1:8 / 223rem.

Anyone know if the Bushmaster gas-piston upper is worth the $699 price?

Are you really so enamored with the idea of a GP that you'd buy a relatively weak upper with one at the same price point as it would take to get a BCM complete upper, including a very nice BUIS?
