I want to go to D14 for Deer, however I want to find out if there is a problem hunting with an SVD? It is a registered AW and the lowest mag I have for it is a 5rnder. Do I need to alter the mag to take 3rnds only. Also the ammo I have is soft point lead.

I believe 3rd maximum only refers to shotguns. The only weapons related regulation for deer hunting is a centerfire rifle firing Soft points or Expanding bullets.

Thats from my understanding, You should always double check.

So long as it's configured to be ca compliant you should be good to go. Just no fmj ammo.

regarding the ammo you mention, make sure you aren't in a Condor zone in which you must use lead-free ammo.

Its compliant in a sense that it is a 'registered' Assault Rifle. I guess the question is then is it OK to hunt with an Assault Rifle?

I'm on board with fusionstar...including the double check part.

D-14 is not in the condor zone.

Centerfire and softpoint/expanding bullets are the criteria I'm aware of.
