View Full Version : red dot sight for Ruger 1022

Hey all, I am looking to get a red dot sight for my 1022. I am looking at BSA, they have some nice ones. A few questions. Will the scope mount that came with the rifle support most sights/ scopes or will I need a new/ different one? Also any opinions on BSA or any good companies that I should look at?
Thanks in advance.

The mount that comes with your rifle as long as it's a newer gen is a Weaver style base. So any Weaver style mounts should work. BSA is ok. I use an Adco on my open rifle.

Ok cool thanks. Yeah, a lot of red dots seem to be on the cheaper end, as opposed to a decent scope.
Watch out for cheap scopes. I have a Target Sports and BSA and both look good in the house but in bright sunlight the reticle is not as bright as I'd like. Adco, C-More or other qualiy scope will have a brighter dot. Just be aware.
if the bsa your talking about is the 30 dollar one at wasmart i have it on my 10/22. its not the best sight ever but i find its good enough and accurate out to 100m (i havent tried it further out) if your trying to get an inexpensive red dot i say go for it but i havent tried the others recommended.

Went to cabelas and saw bushnell red dots for a decent price, anyone know about the trophy series sights?
I have a fake-point ml2 on my tacticool 10/22....mounted it on a $30 UTG railed top and forearm and butler creek folding stock...and forward pistol grip, uber tacti-cool

I havea 50mm BSA red dot on my 'bling blig'(real tree cammo'd) 10/22 and it works just fine.. but the only thing I don't like about the 10/22 scope rail that comes with the rifles is that you can't use the open sights if something goes wrong with the optics.......
