So Ive been wanting to get a semi auto .22lr pistol to mount a scope onto to plink, or maybe even hunt with, and it seems the best suited for this are the Browning buck mark series, and the ruger mk series, or 22/45.

What are your guys opinions on these pistols for scoping, or just the pistols in general?

Also any pistol scope recommendations in the $100 range preferably 2x?

My requirements are:

• Must be CA legal

• Easy to mount scope

• Cheap

Thanks for any input!

I bought it here for only $350 after rebate. Fantastic deal and fast shipping

The Ruger and Browning are both great .22LR pistols.

Since, you are in CA, go with the Browning Buck Mark.

None of the Rugers are on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale, which means they will be more expensive to acquire than the Browning Buck Mark.

There are 14 variants of the Browning Buck Mark currently listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale.

There are quirks about both pistols, you have to just pick the one you like.

I have both the Ruger & Buckmark, you probably can fine someone selling a Ruger that you could buy but it's hard to beat the Buckmark right out of the box with the Ruger you might want to do something with the trigger.

I agree had both and the ruger trigger needs work. But there is lots of after market support.

Only one choice , Browning Bucmark Contour .
And if you post in Rimfire Firearm page, you may get more replies.

Do you have anything that can run a 22 upper? Not sure that's an option you're interested but it is am option especially if you want to mount a scope.

I shot both many times before deciding to buy the Buckmark. I shot both equally well, but I chose the Buckmark because of ergonomics (the grip filled my hand better and I preferred the grip angle).

I had a MKII for 25 years.

I much prefer the Buckmark.

Can't comment on scopes except manual lists which models come ready to install scopes and if yours doesn't they offer an accessory scope base so there should be no problem.

But the adjustable iron sights on the Buckmark work fine and it is an accurate shooter. I adjusted mine to a six o'clock hold.

Suggestion- read and follow the manual if you get the Buckmark. They recommend NOT to strip it down. Avoid diassembling the action/removing the barrel (despite amateur YT videos showing how to do it).

Disassembling the action can upset the internal mechanism, may render firearm unsafe, Browning warns, removing the barrel impliedly messes up the alignment and may affect accuracy of the pistol.

Love both. Just that 2019 will end your 22lr lead ammos for hunting.

Both are excellent, but prefer the rigidity of the ruger series. I just like how the receiver is just one solid hunk of steel. Just buy whichever one you see first at a good price. Cant go wrong w either

the buckmarks looking like what ill probably get since theyre cheap, common, and are well liked.

Found this one: http://www.sportsmansguide.com/product/index/browning-buck-mark-practical-udx-semi-automatic-22lr-truglo-fiber-optic-10-rounds?a=1940878

Seems like a good deal and this one is listed on browning site as CA compliant.

Buckmark first choice

Ruger second choice plus there are some Rugers that are C&R so are Roster Exempt.
