Keep it!

You've already put a bit of money into it, and you'll lose money on the sale.

Besides, more guns is always better than less guns.

Given that you got it for less than a new one, and your addition of sights and choke have, maybe, brought you up to the cost of new, I'd say go shoot the hell out of it and enjoy.

Have you even taken it out yet? If so, did it shoot as expected or is there still something wrong with it?

However, I do understand buying something that you expected to be cool but turned out not to be then spending a wad getting it there just to sell it to be rid of it thing, I've done that a few times(cars and motorcycles).

It's your gun, if the thought of it makes you irritated, get rid of it. If it does the job you intended it to do and doesn't piss you off every time you pick it up, why not keep it?

Youre already into it. if youre gonna loose some money a little bit is ok but if youre gonna sell it for basically 1/2 of what you paid forit might as well keep it. you can always have it as the "loaner" gun. i have a mossy 500 combo that is the shotgun that anybody who goes with me and doesnt have a shotgun uses when we go bird hunting.

Ha ha. I think I figured out I need an excuse to buy yet another shotgun. So, I'll probably put the 590 in the back of the safe and look into my first 870.

I had a similar experience with my sks. I put a choate stock and a scope on it before even shooting it. The first time I took it out, it jammed every other round. I was really mad and thought about selling it. Instead, I decided to search online for a solution and fix it myself. It is now my favorite rifle to shoot, despite being the cheapest rifle I own.

You can always pick up a new barrel and have whatever kind of sights you want installed. Thats what is cool about 590's and 870's, parts a plenty.

Try before you buy and stay away from used. Big 5 is selling them for $250.

For $200, I'd just keep it as a garage/kitchen/damp basement gun :D

You mean 500's not 590's. The 590 I have has a 9 shot magazine and is not compatible with the many barrels available for the 500. I may be able to buy a magazine and barrel for the price of a big5 combo.

590's at $250? I buy used guns a lot, sometimes the risk is worth it, I have gotten various Mossberg pumps at $100-150.

keep it, throw a pistol grip on it and use it as a downstairs or garage gun...

:43:what you have now is a beater/loaner/throw in the truck shotgun.. a reliable beater/loaner with a choke system...that you don't worry if it's going to get scratched..etc.. not really worth selling unless you absolutly have to and it's not an computer where you loose more than 80% of your vested funds as time goes on...
