Checking headspace with PTG Go Gage on Sabre Barrel+Bolt combo. The bolt will not lock up with the chamber lugs using the gogage, but will if i put a wolf round in the chamber. Could it be a mis-sized gage for an uncommon round? Sabre says that the chamber was headspaced to the bolt, but wanted to check before I took it out to the range. Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Unless that chamber was reamed with a PTG reamer, the PTG gauge will not yeild accurate results. Just go and shoot the damn thing. ;)

If you bought a headspaced barrel/bolt combo than there should be nothing to worry about.

IIRC the chamber spec's changed on that caliber at some point. You might want to check with Randall (AR15barrels). Again IIRC the tighter chamber was limiting performance, due to pressure issues.

all the best,

What makes you think that?

Are shoulder angles somehow different on different brand reamers?
PTG reamers/gauges are made to the AA print.

If it won't close on a go-gauge, the chamber is short.
If it still closes on ammo, don't worry about it, just go shoot it.

The reason for a go-gauge is to be sure that ammo will fit.
There's no problem with a gun being shorter than go if all the ammo is also shorter than go and fits fine.
Problems only come from amo being WAY too short, or chambers being WAY too long. ;)
