MP-40

( I've never actually fired one but I've heard great reviews, that with the telescoping bolt it was way ahead of its time, reliable and accurate for sub gun, etc.)

In full auto I've shot:

Uzi carbine
Uzi Pistol
Uzi Micro
Sig MPX
Glock 17 in a CAA Roni Stock
MP40

Out of all of them, I would own the MP40. It's so easy to shoot and control, I could actually hit targets with it in FA. It, by far, has the coolest historical significance.

In California ultra neutered semi-auto with a bullet button, 16" barrel BS version, none of them. I had an Uzi carbine and while it looked cool, it was boring as hell to shoot and weighed in at a ridiculous 11 lbs.

PCC are all boring to me.

I have a Kriss Vector and a couple of JR Carbines (1 in 9MM, 1 in .45 ACP). The Vector lives in the safe; being left handed, it dumps empties right into the crook of my right elbow with amazing consistency. The JRs can and are configured into left side ejection and are my favorites.

If things go right though, by the end of next year I'll have an SBR'd MP5 clone.

AR 15 in 9mm with geissele S3G trigger.

I thought I wanted a Ruger PC 9, then I tried one. It was not a bad gun, but kind of a let down.

The AR 15 9mm is almost a copy of my 5.56 AR 15 and is very fun to shoot. It would probably be fun with a really big mag and select fire, based on how quick it dumped half a mag when it bumped fired while a newer shooter tried it. It would be really cool if there was an AR that used XD mags and would lock on the last round........or if I liked or owned glocks. Full auto isn't something I would use much, but a suppressor would be really nice. The possibilities are endless with the AR 15 and I don't know much about the other carbines out there.

You can get a BB gun at Big 5 for around $100 that looks just like it! :D

http://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/H_K_MP5_K_PDW_CO2_BB_Gun/2145

The MP5 pistol is my grail unicorn gun; mainly because it's so damn sexy looking. Couldn't swing it financially before SSE 1.0 closed. Market place prices too high before 2017. *sad panda* :(

I like what I've researched on the MKE and Omega -- either one sounds pretty sweet.

POF is cool spec wise, but finish and QC issues. HK is HK, but no paddle mag release, swing down trigger pack and three lug barrel.

There is also Atlantic Firearms, Vector Arms and others, but sold out/not in stock.

I have the following semi-auto pistols in "PDW" and "Sub-gun" configuration as CA and Federal legal as possible:

PTR 51P PDW

Vector UZI full-size pistol

MPA 9mm Mini-Mac

Olympic Arms K23P AR pistol 6.5" barrel

http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/attachment.php?attachmentid=380219&d=1420507249

Out of all those, the AR pistol wins for reliability, lightweight, ergos and caliber range and power.

The PTR 51P PDW (MP5 on steroids!) is a close second. However, it is heavy and the .308 Win recoil and blast is a flash bang with each pull of the trigger. Cool thing I heard in a YouTube video is that .308 Win out of a 8.5" barrel has the same velocity and 50 more foot pounds of energy as a 7.62X39mm round out of a 16" barrel. :D

MPA Mini-Mac 9mm is heavy for its size and the trigger slap is no fun. Ammo finicky. The no slap trigger that came with mine broke after just a few boxes of ammo -- it also fired out of battery. I replaced broken part with a slap trigger for reliability.

UZI full size pistol is heavy and super ammo finicky. However, hardly any recoil due to weight and 9mm round.

I admit, I was drawn to these guns due to their cool factor and still like looking at them and shooting them.

I don't own one, but have shot them; AK pistol is pretty cool for a "PDW"/"Sub-gun" role.

A friend of mine had an MP5. It shot at a nice rate but it mucks up the brass and it doesn't take well to optics.

I had a Colt 9mm AR semi. It was boring as dirt in semi, uses the best magazine in the smg game, and is reliable in semi. But the gun is too big for a 9mm, and it's not the most reliable in full-auto. There's no forward assist on the 9, and it could use one at times.

Stuff like the the new Scorpion (not Skorpion) and MPX can't be converted into transferable full-autos so they're not even worth thinking about.

Also, I had a semi Uzi and have shot full-autos. I like the cyclic rate, they have great sights, and of course, great magazines that are cheap. However, it's really heavy for just a 9, and optics are hard to set up. Silencers don't work that great on them either.

My favorite is the M11/9 believe it or not. You can configure it with a nice rail on top for optics, a wide array of stocks, and is easy to set up for silencers. It's easy to vary the cyclic rate to just what you want. I'd be a lot happier if it could use magazines similar to the Colt/Uzi, but you can't have everything I guess. And Richard Lage has been kicking every other platform's *** in the subgun matches.

As far as real subguns/machine pistols I've only shot an MP5, an HK ump45, a Thompson, a grease gun, and a glock 18.

I am not a military trained guy and for me the mp5 was the most controllable. I liked the grease gun a lot too, .45 and that low fire rate made it pretty controllable.

Perhaps not, but I'd much rather have this firing 5.57 than 9 or .45.

A dealer sample is a original factory gun and as such can only be possessed by law enforcement agencies or Federal NFA class III dealers who may have for sales demonstration.

I was a HK police sales rep and got a sample for sale demos. As a pre 1986 made weapon I was allowed to keep it after giving up my license.

My dad wound up giving me a CZ Scorpion as a gift. I finally got to go shoot it yesterday in the hills outside Reno with him.

He was nice enough to bring along his Zenith Z5-RS...which is much nicer shooting than the CZ. It may be my favorite firearm of all time. I dropped that hint to him more than once. :)
