View Full Version : GSG5 confusion? Clear this up...

Ok. Everytime I got on the Riflemans forum I happen to see a GSG5 post. Never took the time to check out what a GSG5 was about cause I was busy asking and looking around for AR15 Ca. legal stuff. So I Googled it after I saw a post about it. And I saw the pic and its a MP5 clone. After looking at it; I went back here and used the search button (I'm sure you guys are happy about that) and read up on it. I just got confused with some things about it. I'm planning to have the GSG5 as my next build, but I don't get it cause people posted that GSG5s break easily or the company isn't distrubuting them anymore and what not. I'm sure those are old posts.
What I wanna know is that is it available? What would make it legal other than just using a 10rd mag? A "how to" on changing the stock (I know, 16" or more). Are the 10rd mags available now? How much are they? Do they even really break? Or was that some BS? And if there's other things I left out, please add or I'll just end up looking it up either way. Thanks =]

Dude you don't have to build it,just buy it. Rimfire rifles can have all the evil crap you want. Centerfires count as A.W.
As far as quality is concerned.....can't help you there.
BTW how did your OLL build go?? Did I at least get you steered in the right direction?? Bowser PM ed me and wanted to know who the hell I was.....JK I told him I felt better about sending you to a calgunner who knows his stuff.

1. It's not a MP5 clone
2. It's legal to have, as it is Rimfire
3. Nope, the magazines can not exist preban
4. Pull out pin, remove stock, apply new stock, install pin
6. 45.99 http://www.coldwarshooters.net/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=641
7. Probably, Its the law of physics
8. Absolutely not
9. You didn't search hard enough

10rnd mags have been available for some time now. Our forum sponsors/vendors sell the GSG-5 and mags ...
I know off hand that DDSranch has them, CWS ... and others

What I wanna know is that is it available? Yes
What would make it legal other than just using a 10rd mag? It's a .22lr, so it falls under RIMFIRE regulations
A "how to" on changing the stock (I know, 16" or more). Remove stock pin, remove stock, install replacement stock, install stock pin
Are the 10rd mags available now? Yes
How much are they? Got mine for $499 w/a 10rd mag. I've seen mags from $35-45.
Do they even really break? Or was that some BS? Everything breaks that is not cared for properly.
And if there's other things I left out, please add or I'll just end up looking it up either way. Check AR15.com in the Armory Forum. There's a section devoted to the GSG5 and just about everything you can get for/put on it.
And here's the obligatory pic of my GSG5 w/CA retractable stock & C-More Railway Red Dot Sight:D

The stickied threads here (http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=6&f=41) have about all the info you will need to modify your GSG.

Oh ok. Thanks for that. Yeah... Still a noob to this whole gun thing. Ahaha... Thanks again.
To Sjgunguy24. Thanks for helping me out from the start. It helped. I picked up a BM C15 on Tuesday. It has BB, got a 10/30rd mag. Its something simple for now before I start going for another build. I mean, its not bad for a starter (I believe so). When I'm done, I'll post pics. Bowsers cool, I stop by TM sometimes and talk to him for a bit.
To asgalindez. Nice build btw! Question though, is that a silencer? Correct if I'm wrong (more likely I am? Lol...) but I just thought silencers are illegal. Well... Like I said, I'm still a noob to this gun thing.
To spiggy. You're right, I didn't search enough. Lol..

It's a shroud for the thin-walled barrel. You know...a 'Barrel Shroud?' The thing on your shoulder that goes up?:43:
:shrug:Search 'Barrel Shroud' and 'Senator Carolyn McCarthy' on YouTube if you still don't get the joke.
