White Oak sells a .204 upper that is supposedly very accurate.

Thanks. Anyone here shoot one/have one? I'm looking for CG opinions -- even if you have this caliber in another type gun -- is it worth getting a 204 Ruger upper?

I have built a few and they have been real accurate.

Your barrels? What components in the builds?

How does the 204 compare to 220 swift in terms of barrel life? I have a 220 built on a 98 mauser action that I managed to wear out perceptibly in a little over 2k rounds. Had a lot of fun reloading for it.

XNY, it depends on your application. Great for varmint shooting. The 204 does 4000fps+ easily. Maybe not necessary if you are only shooting paper. Replacing barrels is expensive.

I shot an MRP in that caliber. No big deal, couldn't see a need for it.

I have one and it is really accurate it came from Model 1 sales and is a 20" bull barreled stainless upper. I make my own ammo. It is a squirrel exploder. Just devastating!

Well, since we can't use 22s to shoot squirrels in California -- is their non-lead ammo for the 204?

Niiiiice.

I have a savage .204 (12vlp) and absolutely love this round. Factory loads are good, (.75" groups @ 100 yds) but I can get my handloads well under 1/2 moa. Shoots extremely flat, easy on the barrells, very little recoil. I can easily watch the "pink mist" in the scope. Although the round is not fur friendly if you are using it for hunting but I have found the Berger 35 gr to be pretty easy on the fur if you keep them out of bone.

Barnes varmint grenade is on the DFG certified non-lead list.
