Im in process of building my Noveske N6 (.308). My questions is, which upper should I use? Im considering:

Noveske N6 21" Heavy 7.62mm AR-10 Upper (model u-21-762)
Armalite AR10T 20
Accuracy Systems in Colorado to build a custom 26 stainless steel upper.

Any advantage to going to a 26 barrel? Should l stay with a 20 or 21 instead? Accuracy Systems will guarantee MOA at 100 yards with their custom upper. If I have Accuracy build the upper, which barrel type should I have them build? The rifle will be used on bench as a tack driver. I would like the rifle to be capable of up to 1000M. Thanks in advance.

If its for bench shooting, sure why not? Go with the 26in. upper. Otherwise Noveske and Armalite are a great choice, you really cant go wrong when it comes to Armalite based AR's.

if shooting from the bench will be your thing... the longer the better. although a complete noveske rifle would be cool... either way, pics and RR once you get her built!

If you're considering a Noveske upper for 1000m, call them and see if they can do anything for you. They do quite a bit of stuff not listed on their website. In that price range, don't rule out GA Precision:

Are you referring to the 20" as a carbine upper? If not, I'd like a link.

Where did you find a Armalite AR10T 20? Most of the AR10T are in 24".

I just finished my N6 Lower. Im in my final decision stage for the upper.
Noveske told me they dont guarantee accuracy. (Im sure it will shoot better than my capability) and they only have a 416R SS, 21" barrels are .875" at the gas block. The thing that troubles me is the upper ammo recommendation is only NATO 7.21x51 ammo. I was told that some commercial ammo can have issues like popped primers. Does this mean I cant shoot 308 match ammo (Federal, Black Hills, etc)? Is the 1:10 twist rate vs 1:11 with Armalite a better consideration? Armalite has the AR10A4 complete upper for $850. Its a 20" Double Lapped, Chrome Lined Rifling Twist: RH 1:11.25". I assume the 416R barrel would be more accurate than the Armalite chrome lined barrel. If I have Patriot Arms, GA or Accuracy build me a customer upper, what twist rate, barrel type, etc should I ask for? Thanks in advance.

This does not answer your concern but it reveals that he will make accuracy claims. It may help to ask for a non-committal response. http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showpost.php?p=999016&postcount=65 They are not written guarantees but he's a straight shooter from my limited experiences with him. You could probably get your other questions answered once you have him on the phone.

Thanks for all the feedback. I ordered the Noveske N21 and some of John’s 7.62 ammo. From what I have read, this upper will shoot under MOA. (Better than what I can do).

After 11 months, Noveske finally shipped my N21 upper. Good fit and finish and tight fit between the upper and N6 lower.

It took me a moment to realize this was a necro thread. Glad you finally got it, and can't wait to see a range report. I'll be shooting my AR-10(T) 20" armalite this weekend and will provide range report. Have fun and happy shooting,

Finally got to the range this afternoon. Working on breaking in the barrel. I'm using some American Eagle 168G OTM 7.62x51 ammo. Fired the first 3 shots @100 YDS. One on paper then adjusted the sights. Less than 3/4". The scope is Bushnell Elite 6500 2.5x16x42.

Just wait until you put some match ammo through that thing, or even do some reloading. OOhhh, then lets see another range report. Got to start somewhere though, and glad you finally got to try the rifle out. What are your overall impressions of your complete Noveske?

What do think I'm gonna suggest???

Noveske family:

N6 18":

N6 16":

All Noveske with exception of the lower on the Afghan. It's a Colt RAW lower.

As far as the N6s, I've had best luck with the 16" N6. With the Leop LRT from the 18" on it, the 16" rifle displays a strong tendency to put 5 rounds into one hole.

An entire Noveske family? You are a lucky SOB.

So far, I love the rifle. I'm having a great time breaking in the rifle. I’m following Armalite's break-in procedure. (1 shot/1clean for 9 rounds, next 10-30 shots/clean every 5). After the break-in period, I plan to switch to the Black Hills Gold 7.62x51 168 Gr OTM to see what this ammo will do. Cheaper than Dirt has some Lake City M118 175 Gr Sierra HPBT ammo I might try as well.

I've put a couple of boxes of the CTD Lake City M118 through my N6s. Stuff shoots real well. I will be buying more of it.

Noveske upper, or if you want to build your own you might want to consider Krieger barrels.

I'm having Krieger install a 20" threaded barrel on a armalite AR-10 upper for my Noveske N6 lower. after everything is say a done it will been $785.00. Hope it's worth it.
