CA DOJ ARCHIVE PROJECT

If you received a letter from the California Department of Justice Firearms Division/Bureau of Firearms PLEASE email them to me at matt@calgunlaws.com with the subject "CA DOJ ARCHIVE PROJECT". These will eventually be posted on CalGunLaws.com (http://www.calgunlaws.com) as a reference for those with questions about firearm issues as well as Attorneys and Public Defenders representing persons accused of violating state gun laws.

Legal mumbo jumbo: It is expressly understood and agreed that your letter is submitted voluntarily, and that no obligation or relationship of trust or confidence between you and calgunlaws.com or Trutanich • Michel, LLP (TMLLP), either express or implied, exists or is to be assumed by TMLLP with respect to your letter or any information submitted with it. TMLLP shall have no obligation to use or consider your submission or to treat it as confidential. You represent and warrant that you have the right and authority to submit your letter and/or any information included with it without the consent of any other party. Sending your letter constitutes consent of these terms.

I sent mine in to Jason about a year ago, do they want another copy?

I'm sure they still have it on file, and everything on file will go online eventually. You can email it to me if you have it scanned already just in case, if you want.

I got a letter from the DOJ a few years back about the Walther P22 handguns. After 5 years of selling them, they realized that the gun was specifically designed for, marketed for, and, outside of CA, sold with, silencers, and so they're all assault weapons. Specifically, the barrel was threaded (sort of). They had me Fed Ex the gun back to Massachusetts where the factory changed one part, applied loctite and shipped it back.

Want that letter? I'd have to dig for it but I'm sure I can find it. If not, I know lots of other people got the letter too.

What about email'd inquiries if we have the ability to forward the original with headers intact?

Jason Davis posted this in the wrong forum (geez they must be really burning the candle at both ends down @ Longbeach TMLLP HQ) And he doesn't take PMs so I'll just repost it.

Well here it is:

With regard to replies from the Department of Justice to email requests, yes, we want those too.

Indeed, it would appear so. Go ahead and forward those to Jason directly. It would not hurt to copy him on anything you send to me as well.
