So, I'm going to go with the Super Sniper 20x42 on my AR-30 in 338.

My biggest dilemma, is what rings/mount to go with.

Would a one piece mount serve this setup better?

Badger Ordinance makes some nice stuff, but they are a little more expensive than I'd like to spend. What else can I get for under $100 that will work well.

Thanks!

Buy once, cry once. I'd highly recommend the strength offered by Badgers for your set up.

Unf. OK, so then which one's? The 1" wide rings I saw?

If it was me I'd go with the Max 50s, though I'm sure the stds would suffice.

Check Seekins Precision. They're every bit as good as badger but cheaper.

And lighter too!

Any idea which height might be optimal to start with?

I'd go with low.

I always recommend Badger, Seekins, Nightforce, but if price is an issue the Leupold MK4 rings.

Here is one of my favorite One-piece mounts

I have a brand new two piece set of rings that I bought from Armalite for my AR50. When I bought my first NXS from Tom Miller, he mounted it for me using Nightforce rings. So, the set I bought from Armalite is just collecting dust if you are interested. I'm not sure who made them or what I paid but, if you want them, I'll sell them to you for $50. If you want to pick them up, I'll even lap them and mount your scope for free.

CASC: Email me pix and any info you have on them please? Also, what do you mean by "lap" them? Is there something I'm missing, because mounting a scope in rings doesn't appear to be rocket science. Fill me in! :)

Also, I require 30mm rings.

Larue's one peice mounts are a solid choice but twice your budget, but you cant go wrong with

Badger
Nightforce
Larue
Mark4

There are several others that are top top notch but i cant seem to name them from the top of my head.

I saw some Badger rings from Liberty on sale. I'm going to try and score those. They were the low mounts too. Otherwise I might just get the LaRue quick detach..

Do you plan on removing the scope often? If not I would avoid a QD mount. Also the Larue mounts will probably raise the scope too much. They are made mainly for AR15/10s so the height works well on those but is high on a bolt gun. I have Badgers and TPS rings but have heard some complaints about TPS recently.

LaRue are nice and work very well. I tested the LaRue and the GG&G Accucam and I found I prefer the GG&G for precision setups and the LaRue for CQB setups.

Any mount that uses side bolts will be better for precision shooting.

i use leupold PRW medium height rings on my .300 win mag ar-30 with a 20x42 super sniper. use the same sccope / ring combo on my .510 dtc bohica, & a 16x42 & prw rings on my .308 rem 700 pss. they all seem to hold the scopes fine & are under $50 from swfa.

Geat setup, ALL aluminum with same expansion ratio.

Go with steel and 8-40 screws if you plan on jumping out of airplanes and helicopters.
