I see that the Sig SG 550 is listed, but that is a full automatic rifle. The 550-2SP is a rare semi-only civilian version. Is this too close to the listed name? It does not say "550 Series".

It sounds like it should be legal, but it's still a bit close to the named rifle and could pose a problem with an ignorant LEO.

You can do it, but maybe it would be safer to get a Sig556 and dress it up/convert it to be like a Sig 550 (if that's possible).

With the 550 you get a 20" barrel, good sights, better looking stock. The closest you could get would be to make a 551 clone with the shorter barrel and Aurora sights. It would cost more than this rifle probably.

Well never mind. The reserve is a little high...
