Hi All...

The first time I went to this in Del Mar, it seemed like there were more Remote Controlled Helocopters for sale than gun stuff. I was shopping for a handgun at the time, but there was a definite lack of firearms. Lots of "accessories" but not many firearms. I now have 2 Rugers, and am looking to go again in October. What are the best deals for handgun owners at these shows? Ammo, mags, spare parts?

Thanks

Mike

The best deal I've ever found at a gun show was some guy selling some steel core 7.62x39 for $.25/round, and since then, nothing. And I've been to 3 or 4 of those Crossroads gunshows.

Yup. I've gotten ammo, reloading supplies, and other gun-related items. But never an actual gun.

yeah Im pretty much over the gun shows. At least so cal gun shows. The prices are not much better than going in the store to get them. the entry feeis a lot IMO and the vendors are selling the same ol crap.
Some of these guys I swear have the same inventory from year to year. not sure if they buy each others inventlry and it jsut moves from table to table. also some of the rifles there I personally would be afraid to shoot them. and the prices they want for these old azz guns . I saw a guy selling a side by side shotgun for 2300$. man that thing looked like it was 200 years old and someone left it oudoors for 199 of those years. POS and the guy thought it was gold.
LOL. I jsut laugh at them. I went to the last one to see if I could find some stuff. I found some mags but they were so poorly made I passed. the other thing I got was some overpriced beef jerly and a overpriced coke

I go the the Costa Mesa show, mainly for the ammo. Gun prices are so, so to high. Last show I went to, I got 480 rounds of 8mm for $40.

I only went to Del Mar once, it's a smaller show, but I resent paying $8 or 9 to park on top of the entrance fee.

miwall

Beef jerky

Dental picks

Beanie babies

Air soft

Got to love those gun shows.

Unfortunately Miwall takes all my money so I can not afford a dental pick!

Hey, we go to the shows and actuall bring guns!

We also have legit sales on our products at the show as well, unlike some other sellers.

Costa Mesa is still decent. But most shows and dealers at them are based so far from my home that I never even try to buy a firearm at a show. Besides, you can get much better deals at most gun shops if you shop around.
Shows are good for bulk ammo and reloading supplies (saving on shipping and hazmat fees), and 'Dude Time'.

Ditto the reloading supplies, bulk ammo, and "Dude Time." Also a good place to buy certain parts/accessories. Although I have purchased firearms from shows, generally the prices there are a little on the high side. I'd say Miwall and Cold War make the shows legit enough to warrant a visit.

Really that is the ONLY reason worth going for Cold War Shooters and Miwall, everything else from the other vendors can be had MUCH cheaper and with better selection elsewhere and the prices there are usually higher than you would pay in store/on the internet! :(

Gun Shows as a whole are a joke.

I have been to the Del Mar Show one time. Not only a waste of time, but was lucky enough to participate in a random car search on the way out of the Del Mar Fair Grounds.

About the only decent shows I have been to are in AZ and TX.

I keep going to shows looking to buy one of these famous loopholes I keep hearing about... haven't found one yet. LOL

I've done OK on ammo, when I've paid cash. Guns themselves seem to be a rip-off, or at least no better than store prices.

I agree about the "Crossroads of the West" shows: everything but guns. I did once find a bargain used Bianchi holster at one once, but that was pre-Ebay.

Recently came to CA from NYS and have to say that Noo Yawk has MUCH better shows and more of them. Hard to say which state is more of a PITA for gun owners, but CA's "safe handgun" list beats anything in NY for shear malicious stupidity--You say my K-38 made in November of 1957 is "safe," but my K-38 made in November of 1958 is a public menace? (Note that I'm not talking about Noo Yawk, Noo Yawk, but "upstate. "Downstate" is another country, somewhere in the Southern Hemisphere.....).

Other than it's gun laws, I love CA. But then, I'm a native Californian who just spent 31 winters in the Northern Tier--Wisconsin, Idaho, Vermont, NY.....

Anybody been to the Ventura or Glendale shows? Worth the trip from OC?

Last costa mesa show was good for me... Hk USC, RRI lower, and 2k rounds of ammo!

For certain things it is convenient, like looking for a gun dealer to do transfer and just being able to do everything at the same time. Sure, I spend close to 3k, but I only had to make one stop and a few hours.
