Just wanted to post a pic up of my Saiga 12 conversion, see what you guys think. Ive done all the work myself so far, but will eventually send it out to get it all refinished and painted. Im also gonna be swapping out the front handguard for a chaos tri rail setup. Can wait to go out and test her out.

Dude no Tromix Shark brake. Looks good, what kind of maglock or did you just take the lever off. Did you install a buffer? Some guy on the Saiga forum uses his for compitition, after 5k+ it's gonna need to get rebuilt. I think Cameron charges 300$ for his rail system, and hes working on a 10 round mini drum.

So tell me guys, which do you prefer better and why? Cameron's Quad Rail System or the Tri Rail System? The quad is nice, but in the pic that I saw with it installed on a gun it seemed like it sat a lil high for my taste. If I had to choose I think Id rather go with the Tri rail... its real slim line looking, sorta low profile and I like the look of the open gas tube up top. It would probably look sick with the tri rail + ultimak top rail.

I looked at the first pic and noticed I forgot a couple real small details haha... my psuedo rivits! lol. Some of these rivits are not like the others, some of these rivits are not the same hahaha...

God that stock forearm is hideous! I hate it!

I just did a project on my .50 Beo upper to actually. Put a 13.5" Troy rail on a 16" entry upper. Had to dremel the gas block like a mofo but I got it to where it looks pretty clean. Havent shot it yet... hope it works right when I try it.

I had to send the rail back to troll cause their barrel clamp was out of spec on a bunch of 13.5"s but I should be getting it back real soon here.

I just got back from the range and put about 40rds of 3" Magnum Slugs through her and everything worked beautifully. IMHO its way more comfortable shooting it with the pistol grip. Everything functioned fine, couldnt be more happy.

Very nice shotgun. I want to pick one up, but I won't be getting one until I move out of state. The wait sucks!!!!

How is the mag released?????? Inquiring minds need to know!!

It looks from the picture a small flat-head screwdriver could be inserted behind what is left of the original mag release and leveraged forward releasing the mag.

Yea. What I did is made a half version of a mag release tab and put that in so I didnt have to cut my original one in half. Not as cool of a solution as Henderson Arms mag lock dealy but definitely gets the job done. That thing is wicked fun to shoot. Id shoot slugs out of it all day long if I could haha.

The RADD lock doesn't fit?

mike22ca
10-01-2008, 3:50 PM
Unfortunately not, or else that would be a real simple solution. The mag release is completely diff on a Saiga 12.

I think the original handguard looks like turd lol. I like the tromix front handguard and the Chaos tri-rail the best IMHO.

Mike,

How were you able to get the shotgun in CA and then modify it? Did you have the mag release modified out of state then brought it and you did the other mods?

Thanks,

Doug

Doug, I bought mine from someone that had it mag locked and brought into the state sometime back.

However, there are people on this board that are offering these mag locked and can ship them into the state, PG Converted & Non-PG Converted models. The three that come to mind off the top of my head are Henderson Defense, guy with the screen name AlohaRover (Pete), and FEDUPWBS. I have personally had dealings with Henderson Defense and AlohaRover (Pete) and can give them both the thumbs up. Never dealt with FEDUPWBS, but A LOT of other people on the board have and can give the thumbs up and vouch for him.

Aloha River has one headed his way for me right now to get his lock installed. Pete is a great guy to deal with. I was pretty sure it was modified before it came into CA.

Thanks,

Doug

Sweet, you wont be sorry you picked one up trust me ;). Yea, mine was completely stock except for a make-shift mag lock deal. Everything else I did myself. The conversion is really fun actually. I wouldnt mind picking up one or 2 more just so I could do the conversion again hehe
