Ah, the good old days....

When I had my first FFL in 1992, the Sac Gun Show was a sight to behold. Tables of just Colt 1911's, Luger historians, HK sub guns, revolvers of every type, AR-15 upper dealers, SAA mecca, and all the little dealers with tables o' handguns for sale.

Now, it's just a couple guys selling average guns you can buy anywhere, jewelry, jerky, nazi memorabilla, crap optics, old surplus, expensive knives, and junk. I guess one could get a good deal on ammo there but after admission and gas, is it a good deal anymore?

I guess I am just bitter because CA pisses me off.

I hear ya.. I moved out here from Kentucky...I use to LOVE the gun shows out there..anything and everything for sale :-)... good deals too... cash and carry... but if I can at least get a good deal on some ammo I guess it'll work! My wafe's cousin who is 11 or 12 wants to go with me so it'll be his first gun show.. should be fun :-)... is cold war shooters ever at the SAC gun show?

I went to 2 shows in Sac a year ago. they were nice. pricey guns, miwall ammo and ammo cans. thats about it. It is a bit bigger than vallejo shows.

Whats the going rate for ammo cans at the shows these days? I haven't been to the Sacto show for a while, but I'm in need of a bunch of cans... seeing if its worth the trip down, or if I can hold out for a trip to the Army surplus store next time I'm in the Arden area..

I bought some cans at the vallejo show a month or two ago, they were 7$? for a 50 cal box. The guy had a combo where you got a Fat 50 cal box, a small 50 cal and a 30 cal box for 20$ if i remember correctly..

Not to my knowledge... I think the SJ show, and CowPalace are their first ventures up to the great "north"

I was just thinking the same thing. I remember it being TWO full halls of tables. ::sigh::

I know its mildly off topic but does anyone remember when they used to have gun shows at the placer county fair grounds? I remember going as a kid and it seemed like they had quite a variety of different things.

I'm actually not a member and I think I'll sign up at the show. I've been meaning to do it for years.

For those wondering, parking is $8. Not sure how much admission is though.

packnrat

lets see
$8.00 parking.
$10.00 entry fee. or spend $25 to the nra and get in "free"? looks like a loss of $15.00.:chris:
$20.00 food. (hot dog and small soda).
$7.00 jerky.
$3.00 second soda.
$50.00 fuel.
dents in the side of your truck free.

egad $100.00 and i have not bought anything yet:eek::eek::eek:

and the "show" is less than 1/4 of what it used to be (size wise) now it is mostly junk stuff.

Send me a pm if you guys need any help with the booths. And when is this show? I didn't see it in the thread anywhere. I just got to Oregon, man that was a long drive in the work truck.

Think we have the booths covered. The general consensus is that you need to show up at one of the regular MC meetings before they will let you work the booth. The show is Oct. 25 and 26

I'll bet the drive sucked. And you still have lots of work in front of you.:p:D

Take it easy up there.

I'm going to come to the next meeting, work permitting. Last Wednesday of the month right? We got up here and had a meeting with my boss who flew up this morning and he is all gung hoe. But the good news is I will get the promotion I have been pushing for in the next month or two and a sizable raise.
