Has anyone see the HEZI SM-1 PDW? It's an upgrade to the M1 Carbine. Since Israel still has lots of M1 Carbines lying around, they made a modern upgrade to the venerable carbine. I know it's sacreligious (sp?) to deface such a great weapon but that thing looks cool. Very slick and it's 26" overall. Need some sort of fake can (to get to 30") and a BB and were good to go.

Here are some links.

That is one cool looking gun. I would still rather have an AK

500 - Not a bad price.

Very nice. Best of all, we already have M1 Carbines to develop a bullet button for it.

I will, however, be sticking with my original M1. Full capacity mags mean more to me than a pistol grip. :)

I wonder if that's the price for 1 rifle or a conversion of an existing one. $500 for a M1 carbine is very doable. Got a soft spot for bullpups.:D

I like it... But the thought of Bastardizing an M1 Carbine would make the Baby Jesus cry.

:iagree: If it was an original US M1. But if it was a newly manufactured M1 from IMI who would notice?

Fugly POS.

As long as it brings forth beautiful, shiny copper bullets at an appropriately brisk velocity :30:

Or Auto Ordinance. Is IMI still building Carbines?

Not to my knowledge. None the M1 Carbines I saw in Israel were made by IMI.

I like bullpups, and even I think it's pretty ugly. After I found out it's made for the M1 Carbine, I'm even less interested. Just me though.

haha ditto, this is our tourguide with our 'bodygaurd' on the beach in Tel-Aviv. Every bus had one medic/gaurd that carried carbines. These things were so beat up that the guy in the pic said he would rather use it to beat someone with it if we were attacked. And I doubt it was made by IMI seeing as it had a US marking on the stock:

(Note proper firearm storage, as we had to jump over guns to get to the water.:rofl2::rofl2::rofl2:)

Oh how I miss that country :38:

Speaking of just M1 Carbine mods in general, I've always thought a PG-ed synthetic stock + ultimak mount on a lug-less, 16" barrel w/ 15 or 30rd GI mags would be a sweet little carbine. (Just not in CA due to our laws :( )

A couple of years ago there was talk of these HEZI stocks being imported stateside but I haven't heard anything since then. I think they're vaporware at this point. :(

You got it, I wanted to get a pic of an UZI, M1, M4, Galil, Tavor and a Markavah. I succeeded except for the Tavor of course.
