I am thinking of buying a new AK from Henderson Defense. This would be the most expensive AK I have bought and I would like some opinions from the experts here on calguns. It is a Saiga AK-103 Conversion.

So what are the pros and cons of this rifle? How is the price?
Thanks

Price is about right for the work. The pro is that you have a real russian AK. The Saiga's also come with a factory installed scope rail and this one's been converted to accept any standard AK magazine. The only thing I would change is the rear sight. It's the factory Saiga sight that's only marked to 300 meters.

Henderson Defense ak-101 (with blond wood furniture) looks very sexy and more correct, except for the pistol grip.

First off, my apologies in advance if I'm "hijacking" this thread.
Vepr62, what do you mean by "more correct?" I'm an AK noob that's trying to learn as much as I can about AK's.
Thanks.

Looks just like one I was issued in 81-83, but wood on my issue rifle was reddish-brown, and brown bakelite pistol grip. And EVERY ak style rifle should have mag well dimples....

i just bought a HDI ak-103 saiga conversion. you have to understand that the majority of saigas in the u.s. don't have dimples. the 2 saiga i have do but i just was lucky. HDI is a top notch company and for the work they do it a pretty good price. it's not easy to make a ak-103 clone from a saiga. the new arsenal saiga is cool but i have heard they already have problems like canted sights. i say go for the HDI ak-103 saiga the dimples are only important if you are a diehard collector the magazine well is already wide enough to take doublestack mags.
You can get a Lancaster from CWS for about a $150 less. I know that it isn'ta 103 clone, but they are a good quality build with a warranty.
Whats the difference between the Saiga AK-103 and the Saiga ak-47 sold by lanworldinc?

handguards
muzzlebrake/threaded barrel
Is that worth the $150 price difference ?

Is it worth the price difference? That really depends on what YOU want. Some people will say "yes" and others will say "no".

it depends on what you want out of it. the one offered by lanworld is a basic saiga conversion. the one offered by HDI is a full blown ak-103 conversion. i don't know who converted the lanworld saigas or what kind of warrenty they offer. i've owned an east german ak from HDI and it was really well put together unfortunately i had to sell it because i needed the money. i think the HDI ak-103 is worth the price they charge go to atlantic and you'll see that there are other ak-103 copies that cost more. you could also get an arsenal-saiga but i would until any bugs are worked out.

For $150 more...I'd say its worth the price. You get handguard retainer nut, K-Var handguard, threaded barrel, and muzzle brake.
