Is it odd that I find a hasty sling more stable for shooting offhand?

Using either a Garand sling or a 1907 sling, I definitely find it more stable to sling-in "properly" (cuff around the weak arm above the bicep) when shooting from prone, seated, or kneeling. I find a hasty sling (arm through the sling, wrap the wrist and go) to be far more supportive when shooting offhand though. Anyone else find the same?

Thanks guys,
-Pete

That's normal.

FWIW, in High Power matches, off hand has to be shot without any sling support at all. I'm so used to doing it that way I never use a sling off hand for anything anymore.
