I did the search thing but I was thinking- has anyone ever heard of a Mini14 being converted to take AR mags?

No. But, I'm sure you could modify a Galil AR mag adaptor to work in a Mini-14.

Yep.

Perfect Union is the Mini-14/30 site.

Here's the Mini-14 section:

haa i note you said "fit" and not "work" i had one and it worked as long as you didn't load more than 20 or it was nosedive city

for quick reference the ar-15 has the bolt lock actuator on the back which makes the magazines slightly longer than a mini 14 magazine

also the first bullet in a mini-14 mag sits on the starboard side allowing the bolt stop to be on the left side "follower bump"

the ar-15 first bullet in sits on the port side(port as in the left side not as in the "ejection port" side) so the follower bump is on the wrong side

to me it looks like a lot of modifications are required for full function

ps i cant find the section on perfectunion about ar-15/mini-14 conversions

I had a bunch of those ramilnes that I had to repair due to function issues with the repair/rebuild kits... if you can find the link that would be great- I couldn't either.
