I just turned 19 in July.

Got into firearms since I was interested at a young age. Tried paintball, airsoft, but nothing compares to the real thing. :)

About to spend about 1200 on my .22 AR and probably going to pick up a 5.56 upper in two paychecks time.

I got into guns on my own, well, a long with a few of my close friends. But none of our parents or family where/are 'gun people.'

I'm 21 and I came addicted to firearms when I turned 21. I knew why father kept firearms (self defense) and I found out why he spent so much money on them (they are so fun to shoot!). I inherited them and I have since gone on to buy two Wilsons and spend thousands on ammo and other accessories. This is by far my most expensive hobby to date.

Turned 19 in May, started out way way back when I was a little tike bugging my parents for books about guns and whatnot, I used to go to China every year and I would get a big picture book full of guns.

Then I got an air rifle in July 2007, a 22 rifle in December 2007, and then high powered bolts.

Nobody in my entire bloodline is interested in this stuff, just me :(

23, been shootin since I was 12. Every weekend with my dad when I was little, and I still go to that same range frequently. Safety is embedded into my brain. Passed my HSC test with none failed and didn't study at all.

20 years old, been into guns forever. Also came from an anti-gun household, took forever to convince my parents to let me buy a BB gun and 15 or so. Had an arsenal of airsoft guns and 18 bought my first rifle, got it before my driver's liscence.

Even though I had never shot a real gun, throughout high school I was pretty much known as the gun/airsoft guy.

Placer High was surprisingly cool about it, I just went in told them and they sent someone with me to go get it from the car and that was it.

Whats considered young? I'm 21

My first time shooting a gun was at a ROTC FTX in college. I liked shooting but never really thought about buying a gun. Got into firearms January this year because dedeye peer pressured me into getting a gun at the Ventura county gun show.

I'm 20. Got into shooting at 12. My grandparents raised me and are hardcore anti-gun democrats. My uncle (Old Recon Scout) and neighbor (Hunter) were my mentors. Brought my .270 home when I was 16. Learned how to clean every type of military firearm my uncle could get his hands on. A clean gun is a happy gun he would tell me. And then he would take his pinky and stick it in some unknown crevice in the AR I had just "cleaned" and come up with some gooey black stuff. GO CLEAN IT AGAIN!

22 and I have always been around guns. It's weird my parents never took me shooting or showed me guns really, but my dad always had guns under his bed (unloaded for those that freak out) then one of my good friends dad had a gun safe full of AR's and a nice reloading bench setup.

Living in Texas for the past 7 years didn't really help either.

26.

Dad introduced me to the .22LR when I was 7 or 8. Shot about once a year with Dad growing up. Took a break in college (no time or money). After graduation, dad gave me a Taurus .45. Year or two passed, got a good job, got married, finally had some extra $$ and have been enjoying guns almost every-other weekend for the last couple years.

I turned 20 this past July and got started shooting when I was about 13 through Boy Scouts. I finished up a Summer Camp partial Rifle Merit Badge at my local range (Escondido Fish and Game Association) and got interested in the Club's Junior Smallbore program. Needless to say, I was hooked. That led to 50 yd 4 position smallbore, 100 yd smallbore prone, and High Power Rifle. I recently got hooked on Across the Course High Power Rifle (200, 300, 600 yd).

I'm 19 and have always been interested in firearms ever since I was a little kid. Once I turned 18 I received my Grandpa's Mossberg 500 and Glenfield .22 repeater soon after his passing. I sold them both for extra money to fund my AR-15 and an M1 Garand that I sold recently. No worries, though, the two guns I sold didn't hold any sentimental value.

I've been looking into getting an ar for a while but need to find a new job first, but might use some birthday $ to buy a lower. Turned 24 last month. Was into guns because my dad had a few and because of the movies. Didn't start buying until I got over my motorcycle phase (crashed the bike and don't have money for a new one yet), and decided to spend my money on guns. Started buying my own at 21 and since then I've gone through a good amount of guns.

Would have plenty more if I was single and wasn't paying an arm and a leg for school and rent. I also haven't worked since I transferred to a UC but I'm thinking its time to get a part time job again.

How old are you?

I'll be turning 21 december 20th.

As to how I got into guns....it was my grandpa that got me into shooting.
I think I started shooting BB/pellet guns when I was 5,my grandpa has 2 acres
of land so he has plenty of room for BB shooting, anyway,we would go out to where a bunch of trees are grouped together, setup some cans and then just shred the cans(aluminum) up with BB's.

Then ocasionally through out the years we would do some .22LR shooting, and it went like that all the way up to last year(or was it this year:confused:)when I bought my very first gun,a mosin nagant M91/30 1942:83:.

We still do some shooting, but I mainly just read about guns now cause i'm usually a little too busy to just go shooting very often:mad:.

I'm 24, got into guns growing up in Missouri. First went shooting at 10 and now that i live in California, I realize how few people have ever shot a gun. I take out people I've met in college and at work who are curious. Some people never really liked or were interested in guns but now they call me and ask if we can go out shooting again. It truly is viral. My arsenal consists of a 91/30, ar-15 w/ spikes lower, and WASR-10 I just got from henderson defense and haven't shot, and a slew of other rifles and handguns from my father-in-law.

been shooting as long as I've been walking... Had a forced falling out of the hobby when I was 15, because my brother commited suicide and my father became extremely anti gun and took away my 1911 .38 Super, Ruger 22, Winchester 30/30 and my SKS. i am 22, i started to have a intrest in fire arms at 5-6. i always saw my dad carry and when i asked him about it he just went in to his °gun room° grabbed a .22 pistol and handed it to me, then went over every thing. after the talk he handed me a full mag and told me to fire into the cans he threw on the ground (we lived in the country awhile out of town) after the first pull of the trigger he passed the uncontrollable urge to go out and buy and fire anything and everything one could find.

Im Andrew, Im 20 years old and Im a gun addict.

Ive been shooting ever since I could remember. My dad and I would head up north to Mammoth Mt. for some skiing and we would always stop off on the way in the desert for some shooting. As I grew, so did my dad's gun collection. It started out with .22's and 20 gauges. Then to 9mm, .45's and 12 gauges. And now .223, .308 and 7.62x39. When I hit 18 years old, pops transferred all the guns to me.

My first actual purchase was several months ago when I bought two stag lowers which gave birth to my AR addiction. I am now dabbling in the AK47 realm.

I'm 21 and joined CalGuns when I was 20. When I was little, around four, I went with my dad once to the range along with my mom, my dad's high school buddy, and his wife and kids. Back then, though, I had very sensitive hearing, and couldn't stand loud noises, even waves crashing on the beach (which I found out during a physical was due to my hearing being considerably above average, even now). I shot an air pistol there, and did a few times in the backyard with my dad when I was little, betwen the ages of 4 and 6. After that, I had little involvement with guns for years. I always had a fascination with firearms, though, which got stronger after I got into Civil War reenacting when I was 10. I used to go online alot into gun forums and other places and got really into it.

I actually learned about gun safety, handling, etc., from the Internet and not from my father, unfortunately. When we went shooting when I was four was the last time he had gone shooting for a long time. My dad's friend (who went to the range with us when I was 4) gave me a single shot .44 muzzleloading derringer that needed fixing when i was 11 or 12 and my grandfather gave me his Ruger 10/22 as a Christmas present when I was 12. Around the same time I bought a replica Remington M1863 percussion rifle from Cabelas for reenacting, and also around that time, I finally went shooting real guns for the first time with my dad and a friend of his out in the desert.

I got intensely into guns (and my interest in the RKBA made me a hardcore conservative and got me into politics, as well) and my dad got me a Mosin-Nagant M44 when I was 16 and I also bought a Colt 1860 revolver replica from him. I was able to bring my muzzleloader to school for a report on the Civil War and also started a gun club there (Lutheran high School in La Verne). I was also on the air rifle team in NJROTC. After I turned 18 and came home from the military college I was at for a year, I bought a number of guns, now owning a Swiss K-31, a Mossberg 590SP, a Yugo SKS, a Lee-Enfield No.5 MkI, a Colt 1908 Vest Pocket Hammerless pistol, an FM-manufactured Hi-Power, and an air rifle and airsoft gun in addition to the stuff above. I bought my first modern pistol from my grandfather when I was 19. I'm now applying for a C&R License and a CCW Permit, and I also still buy guns as often as I can afford them.

I'm 18

I've been interested in guns since I first saw Terminator when I was maybe 4 or 5. As I grew up, I collected BB guns, got involved in paintball guns and video games like Counter Strike, Day of Defeat (did some competitions) and Call of Duty 4.

As for the real thing, I've only shot a couple handguns once or twice through my teens. Then I went and shot clay pigeon a month ago and was called a "natural" by the range workers.

I felt confident and happy about it so I bought a Remington 870. I'm looking forward to getting more as I get older, and hopefully better. I've been thinking about maybe getting into competition after practicing A LOT, with better guns as well. For now, the 870 is good for a beginner...

The 870 is a GREAT shotgun. I just bought a brand new 18" synthetic 870 a few weeks ago.

Define young.

When I was 16, I thought 25 was old.

I'm 24, and 25 isn't looking too old. Since then, I have redefined old as when you have kids.

As for how I got into guns: when I was five, my dad bought me a BB gun for my birthday and I've loved shooting things ever since.

Started shooting at 7 with a Red Ryder at some tin cans with my dad. Now the proud parent of 22 rifles and 12 handguns from .17HMR up to .50 Beowulf, and still have that original Red Ryder BB gun. Gonna save it for when the wife and I have kids, and they start getting the inkling to shoot at stuff too. :D

20 currently, turn the magical 21 in March and can't wait to drink legally.... oh and buy a pistol :D

I started owning guns at 19, my first purchase was an on sale Mosin Nagant 91/30 for $75 (ended up being $115 or something after the DROS fees and the mandatory purchase of a gun lock).

Since that moment, I bought a cheap Big 5 Charles Daly shotgun, assembled my own AR15 lower in the summer (thank goodness I did, this was before they changed the laws and placed lowers in the 'other category' in the DROS), and bought some rifles through C&R purchases through CG.net members. This place definitely rocks and its good to see a bunch of other gun enthusiasts out here!

I'm 19, 20 in June, only a little over a year to go yes!!!

Anyway, my family is pretty much non-gun, so It's just me. In scouts I dod the shotgun merit badge and shot 38/50 clay pidgeons that day, which I was told was very good since that was the first time I had ever fired a gun.

Then later when I was 16 my parents got me a standard Ruger 10/22 for christmas. I have bought a few air pistols since but am saving up for when I turn 21 for a nice Glock, screw the alcohol, you can bum that off anyone, and I don't drink, so it doesn't matter anyway.

I guess im young enough to post here. I turned 21 in March. Have been shooting for a long time. I own a couple of 22's, an AR, couple shotguns, couple hunting rifles, couple C&R's and a couple handguns through IFT's. My most prized rifle is my custom Surgeon .243 winchester rifle that I shoot in long range comps. I enjoy doing all of my own machine work and building my own rifles. In the past few years I have gotten involved in both pistol and rifle competition and have really enjoyed both sports. I have met some great people along the way.

I'm 17 and a relative gave me a Remington Model 37 about a year ago. My dad and I took it to the range a few months ago and now I'm addicted!

My parents were both in the Israeli military and later vowed to never let a firearm in their house. Lets just say I changed that.

I'm the mastermind behind all the parts coming in the mail for my dad's future CA-legal AR-15. He owns it, but I will be the one who "plays" with it.

I posted in the "New Members" section, but I figure I should post in here as well, seeing as I'm only 20.

I don't think there was actually a specific time I actually got interested in guns, as my dad had them since before I was thought of, and he made sure to teach me the ways of the responsible gun owner since I was able to talk.

I believe my first actual shooting experience was at about 4 years old, in the back yard with the .177 air rifle hitting soda cans. (actually I think they were mostly beer cans but I digress lol)

I don't technically "own" any guns yet, but the ones that are "mine" are a 20ga. pump, .22lr Marlin model 60, and in 3 more days, a .22lr Beretta Neos.

I'm 25. I consider that young. My first gun was actually a rifle. Crossman $40 dollar pump BB/pellet rifle when I was 13 years old. I used to shoot at anything small and challenging I could find in my back yard. knock down lemons by shooting at them at the stem, shoot at flies, cigarette buds, marbles, the o in coca cola cans etc.. I currently have a springfield armory xd9 and a ruger 10/22. I just picked up the 9mm 2 days ago and have had the 10/22 for about 4 months. I am also 19. The day I turned 18 I learned what the California cool off period was with the purchase of my big 5 special - Mossberg 500.

I was originally pulled into the firearm realm through the Scouts. And I was pulled into the Scouts by my marine father. Thats where I learned what firearm safety really meant, as well as what being a true red blooded American meant ;)

I am currently a member of the NRA and reaching towards my degree in political science and history in hopes that one day (which could be tomorrow if I were able to get connected to the right people) be able to protect the second amendment and our rights as free Americans.

In the last week I yet again entered the far fetched and oh-so-fun cool off period with my new DD's ranch Stag arms complete lower AR-15 assembly (still need to find an upper). And I hope that this is the second of many firearms that I will come to own.

I turned fifteen years old a couple of months ago, and I got into guns from a a friend of mine who goes hunting, and my science teacher.

Unfortunately, I don't own any firearms, mainly because whenever I've asked my mother about owning a .22 rifle, she's said that she doesn't think it's a good idea to have a gun in the same house as a teenager, despite the fact that I'm a member of a youth club that shoots every Friday. She's pro gun though, and says she might get a revolver for personal defense when I move out.

Hmm, well I seem to be in the right age group for this section, so heres a little bit about me. I'm 21 and have been shooting on a more regular scale since I was 18. My parents were pretty indifferent on guns, so the only time I went shooting as a child was with family friends. They weren't anti gun, but more or less found shooting to be boring and couldn't understand why I loved guns so much. They wouldn't buy me guns (Except BB guns) so I turned to Airsoft when I was 12 or 13 and by 16, ended up being one of the most well known custom pistol builders within the online Airsoft community, as well as a website administrator of AirsoftForum.com. I'm kind of embarrassed to mention that, but oh well. I bought my first gun the day I turned 18 and 10 days later was the proud owner of a Marlin 336. Since that day, I've bought, built and collected up 13 firearms, and shoot 2-3 times a week - usually 1-2 days of trap and some fun plinking and then another day of IPSC practice. I don't compete yet, but have been in love with it since my days of $1500 Airsoft pistols and having nothin else to do with them lol. Well I think thats about it for me!

I'm 19, gonna be 20 in 4 months

I was introduced into guns when I was about 10?(BB gun) then a few years later went to visit my dad in Texas for a summer. He is a LEO and took me to shoot my first real guns. After that summer I didn't shoot for a few years then my step dad took me out when I was 17 a few times. Moved out at 18 and bought an 870, then moved in with my parents here in Indiana 4 months ago and have acquired a few long rifles, as well as a handgun(which I sold recently). Hopin to get alot more before moving back to California lol

But I tell ya, Indiana is the place to be if your into guns :D
California has much nicer weather though

Hi, never really started checking out other threads, always just looked at pictures ha.

Anyways i'm 19, turning 20 in december. ROTC cadet. Started with a good ole Daisy Red Ryder when i was much younger.

Love the freedoms we have that many people take for granted. Owning such a tool (firearm) is such a beautiful privilege. I am a born patriot and love this country so much.

Got a .17hmr, at 18 bought a 12ga 590, soon after built my AR15 to practice for the military. Recently bought a Mosin Nagant 91/30 at big5 for a hundred bucks.

Glad to see other like minded people in my age range. we are the future!

I'm 20, I got into firearms because I have an uncle who's a gun nut, closet and attic full of hunting rifles and pistols. He comes twice a year to my farm and brings new toys we shoot all weekend here in the last free territories of the Peoples Republic of CA, that's how I got into guns.

I'm 20. I've been shooting occasionally for the past 4 or so years ~ my dad is a bit of an enthusiast. This past year though I've really gotten in to guns and just bought a .22 AR-15 that I pick up this sunday. IDK if I'll be getting my HSC next year though since I might be in D.C. doing an internship, and I go to school in Ohio.

25, always had a thing for guns but kinda been anti for awhile. I guess I still kinda am in some aspects. But I do believe that things are going downhill in the US and will continue to the next 25 years (kinda a believer in the shtf scenario) . So a 2k investment into something that would save mine or my families life isn't too bad. So I bought an xd .45 a mossberg 500 and built an ar-15.

Hey all, I turn 23 in a few days. I thought I was a bit young to be getting into but it seems like not! I'll be getting my first firearm ever tomorrow actually! A AR-15 Stag/Bushmaster. (lower and upper receiver respectively). I've done a small bit of research but am still eager to learn more in order to take care of the rifle well while respecting the rifle and having fun at the range.

Also I tend to have a hard time consistently posting and what not on forums in general so I'll try to chime in whenever I can/remember to!

I'll be 20 until next may, when I lose all control and buy way too many "1st" pistols. Until then I'll stick with my bolt gun.

Started off in Nevada with a ruger 10/22 and many banana clips...the rest is a blur because I was real young. I just bought my 2nd firearm, a bolt 700 to master. I'll be around.

Turned 19 several months ago, i've been fascinated with firearms since my dad first took me shooting with my grandpa's .22 when I was 16.

Turned 18, joined the NRA, and bought a Marlin 795 .22 for $120 at Big 5. Got my mom to not just tolerate firearms, but also to shoot them--and enjoy it. She wants a Kahr .380 now haha

Purchased 2nd firearm last week, a Yugo 59/66, and am waiting for the chance to pick it up. Sadly, my carefree life as a non-collector was tragically cut short when I held the thing, and realized I want to own all things old, dirty, and Eastern Bloc :73:

Hard to do on a student's salary (or lack thereof), but I am willing to go without food...

If you ever go to the Crossroads of the West gunshow during xmas/easter/summer, you may find me. Look for the youngish guy asking everyone with a Mosin Nagant the same stupid questions about receiver shape and bayonet-related accuracy over and over again... :D

I've been around guns my whole life. The first I shot was at 12, and was my uncle's 9mm. That same day I shot my father's Colt .45 and .357 magnum revolver. For my 21st birthday, my father thought it'd be a good idea to let me have his .45 and .357 so I was a happy camper. I just recently purchased my first firearm though and it is a Springfield Armory XD-9. I pick it up in 2 days so I'm stoked!

Got into guns at 16?...thus far I've only been able to use my neighbor's guns when he would go to the shooting range. Just got a '78 Ruger mini-14 hand-me-down as an early Christmas present!

I have been interested in firearms for as long as I remember. I received my first bb gun as a present from my older brother when I was 8 and that just set me off. As of now I shoot a Mossberg 590 12 gauge, a FNP-40 with TLR-1 attached, Remington 700 with Bushnell optic, and a Ruger 10/22 just for fun. I'm 18 as of last june. I currently own 5 firearms already and many to come. Between my stang and firearms there is always money to be spent. The problem is figuring out which one to spend it one. Decided to buy an AR over new suspension for the car! Got into guns when I was 6, thanks to my uncle, shot my first .22. Then at age 14, my dad bought me my first gun, a Taurus pump action .22 for my 8th grade graduation. Shot M4's and AK's in my teens because my uncle was and still is in the Army. The rest of my guns were purchased when I turned 18 with my own money in order.

21 in 12 days :D been around guns all my life. When i was 6 i got my first pellet rifle and then til about 10 it was all about bb and pellet guns and showing cola cans who's boss. After that came the archery obsession and that lasted a few years til i got very proficient at it. My older brother has owned a massive collection of pistols/rifles as far as i can remember so since childhood I've improved my skill and have looked forward to the day i turn 21 with anticipation. Current collection is ruger 10/22 tacticool style and marlin 795 with dragunov stock. Already paid my brother for 3 pistols (beretta 96, beretta 950 jetfire and beretta 950 minx) and will be going to sportsmans on my birthday to register it to ME :) tough as it is in california, life without guns is no life at all

Hey all, I don't usually hang out in this section but thought I would post here. I'm originally from Sacramento, 19, attending CU Boulder and in Army ROTC. I started shooting at around 12 and my parents soon after signed me up for a junior rifle team to learn to basics of marksmanship. Now after a few years of working around firearms and owning more than my fair share at this age I try to spread some of my knowledge on here and have learned a ton. I helped out a calguns booth last year and wish I was still in CA to continue to. I strongly suggest volunteering at one if you're very knowledgable about laws, firearms and are comfortable with talking to a lot of people.

I am new, but I am an old fart... however, I thought my son would enjoy the sport so we took him also..

He is 11. Had a blast. Wants to keep going.

Now, all we have to do is find a proper pistol and/or rifle for my son and he will be good to go. That and more classes.

This family fun thing is getting expensive.

21.

Grew up in midwest Texas, with lots of guns in the house. Didn't really start getting into it until I joined the Army though. Looking to make my first handgun purchase here pretty shortly...

mom hated guns, had to play duck hunt when she wasnt home... lol,so it took a lot of convincing. had some help from gun loving family side.

bought my first rifle (mosin nagant) at 19 and now I have a meager collection.

I have a C&R , COE, hunting license, NRA membership and set up my reloading bench about two weeks ago. I was going to collect eastern bloc weapons, but now i just want to collect 1911s and CZ75s

My dad has been shooting since he was a kid so growing up i fell in love with his guns haha. My first "gun" was a good ole Red Ryder BB gun. My first gun purchase was a 1930 Tula Mosin 91/30.

I grew up hunting and shooting with my dad as far back as I can remember. I attend San Jose State University, and I'm finally in a position to begin my own firearm collection.
