Supporting the Three

I am the Infantry, follow me
Not a foot soldier, we're much more you see
We'll take the fight to the enemy
I am the Infantry, first of THE THREE

I am the Calvary, follow me
A modern horse soldier in an APC
Charging straight forward to the enemy
I am the Cav, most daring of THE THREE

I am the Armor, follow me
The arm of decision I'll always be
When the going gets rough, call on me
I am the Armor, the best of THE THREE

Armor, Cav and Infantry
Rush headlong into the mêlée
Breaking the lines like an angry sea
Deep into enemy territory

Approaching a crossroads, what do we see
The area secured by two lonely MPs
Directing us forward, how can this be
How long has he been here waiting for me

What a crazy person an MP must be
He has no firepower or armor like me
And I thought everyone followed THE THREE
Armor, Cav and Infantry

I am the MP, don't follow me
You don't want to be where I will be
Guarding a crossroad, waiting for THE THREE
Just my partner, a sixteen, a sixty and me

With the objective taken, wait and see
No one will remember the lonely MP
Who held this ground so they could run free
But that's my job, supporting THE THREE

Blah, nothing compared to the Engineer Song. I love calling this cadence to a battalion formation during march

Chorus: (Sung after each verse)

We are, we are, we are, we are, the Combat ENGINEER'S
we can, we can, we can, we can, demolish forty beers
Drink up, drink up, drink up, drink up and come along with us
For we don’t give a damn, for any Old Man, who don’t give a damn for us - Hey

Verses:

Now Venus is a statue made entirely out of stone,
She hasn't a fig leaf on her – she is naked to the bone.
On seeing that her arms we gone, two ENGINEERS discoursed,
Of course the darn thing's broken and should be reinforced!

An ENGINEER and a tanker once found a gallon can
Said the tanker to the ENGINEER "Out drink me if you can!"
The tanker took three drinks and died, his face was turning green.
But the ENGINEER kept drinking, it was only gasoline.

Godiva was a lady who through Coventry did ride,
Showing all the villagers her lovely, lily hide
The most observant fellow was an ENGINEER of course,
Was the only one to notice that Godiva rode a horse!

I've come a long, long way she said and I'll go as long and far
with the man who'll help me off my horse and lead me to a bar
The men who helped her off her horse and stood her to a beer,
Were a bleary-eyed surveyor and a drunken ENGINEER!

My father was a miner on the upper Malamute,
My mother was a hostess in a house of ill repute.
When I was only sixteen years, she shouted loud and clear
Get out of the house, become a man, and join the ENGINEERS!

Julius Caesar went to Egypt at the age of 53
Cleopatra’s blood was warm, her heart was young and free
But every night when Julie left her house at 3 o’clock
There was a Roman Engineer awaiting just around the block

Sir Francis Drake and all his men put out for Misery Bay
They heard the Spanish Rum Fleet was heading out that way
But the Engineers had beat them by a night and half a day
And though as drunk as hooligans you still could hear them say

The Air Force and the Navy came to town to have some fun
Down to the taverns where the fiery liquors run
But all they found was broken glass, the Engineers had come
And traded junk filled demo bags for gallon kegs of rum

We lay down all their rolling roads and cut down all their trees
And if the order ever comes, we’d forge the raging seas
When ever they want to sleep awhile, we put them up a town
And we build the blasted bridges so the Infantry won’t drown

We put them over rivers and across the mountain streams
Do everything but tuck them in and wish them pleasant dreams
And when the going’s really tough, and shells do burst our ears
The whole Division’s apt to say, GOD, SEND THE ENGINEERS

We build and blow your bridges and fix your roads up too,
There aren't too many things in life an ENGINEER can't do.
You never seem to need us 'til your minds are filled with fear,
Then the first thing that you call for are the Combat ENGINEERS.

We plan and guard your barriers, and we build your bunkers too,
And each and every war we prove what the ENGINEERS can do.
For in the thick of every fight, the cry has been for years
Come clear the pass, and save our ***, you Combat ENGINEERS.

Last I'd heard they were going to wear dickies type slacks but I was just looking around online and it looks like they are switching to some awful looking BDUs.

These top two are from the 2007 cruise. I reenlisted on the flight deck of USS Ronald Reagan inport, Pearl Harbor, HI. My XO at the time (CO now) took the pictures. Top one is obvious, middle one is with my wife, who also happens to be our command Ombudsman. Thankless job, let me tell you. Last one is when I got CAP'ed during this last cruise, on Reagan.

MRAPs are alright. I saw the picture of a Marine Cougar that drove over a mine. The engine flew something like 100 ft away, the chassis was completely messed up. The crew got bruises. Pity they didn't have them in my time.

docsmileyface
11-07-2008, 11:05 PM
Caimans are the newest MRAPs, they're shorter vertically then the cougars or Maxpros, but their as long as an RG33 but with less windows and a smoother ride. And medically speaking, I could perform open heart surgery with the amount of room I've got in the back if we ever needed a CASEVAC.

But yeah, its no M1A2.... but then again, there aren't many tracked vehicles in country anymore anyways because the local populace is sick of the roads being torn up and stuff. An ASV is probably the closest thing to a tank your going to get nowadays.

No, not really. We were responsible for northern Tikrit, but always pissed people off by going into Tikrit proper. I had a nice room at Speicher though (^_^). I also got to play in the sand in Tallil, Kirkuk, Anaconda and Q-Town. Man, we did put some miles on those soft tops.

Warrick Dunn came through our AMC Passenger terminal at "The Deid" in early 2005 on his way to Afghanistan to dedicate the Pat Tillman Memorial Center. I got to meet him and Larry Izzo for a few minutes, Izzo is a very funny guy.

This is a Mongolian Army LtCol whose unit of 120 men was stuck in our terminal for 3 days after they had rotated out of Iraq. IIRC there was an issue with some country not wanting to grant overflight rights to their ride home (our C-17s).

4 x M9 mags =

Wingnut: Nice to see maintenance folks around here!

Pretty cool to see all the Soldiers and Marines around here. Hopefully my squadron has had the honor of watching your backs at some point over my past two deployments. When I had the chance to talk to a few JTACs my last trip over they said you guys get pretty hyped when we come around.

At any rate here's one of me on my first trip over in '05 with my aircraft. (Unfortunately everything is photobucketed!)

And heres one from my last outing after a pretty bad sandstorm. We had a pretty rough day so I was kind of tired.

Dive up off Port Hueneme CA 1983. Can't remember the boat's name that took us out, it was a big commercial dive boat, we couldn't get a Navy dive boat that week. We later got a Boston Whaler to use a dive boat and moored it at Dana Point.

I am curious, back in the day, in the Navy, there was one guy I know of trying to use weight to get discharged.

Has anyone seen an active duty Marine, grossly over weight?

that dude is a monster I saw one guy like that in the marines but he was in the administrative separation platoon waiting to be discharged due to his weight. in Kuwait I saw a ton of big guys in the ng units but this guy is off the charts

A R2D2 that shoots a 1000 rnds a min:eek:

It actually shoots 4,500 rounds per minute of 20mm depleted uranium or tungsten rounds, and it holds 1,550 rounds in the drum. Awesome gun, I worked on it for years before converting to MA!

Ding Ding Ding, you are Correct, his coin is pretty cool looking. The other was the Core Command Sergeant Major at the time, alas I'm horrible with names and cannot remember his.

That pic was taken in the IZ one day when we stopped in to grab some lunch, I think it was a friday and a holiday and our IP station was deserted so we really had nothing better to do.

How we ran into them was pretty funny, The CSM started chewing out our IPLO for wearing ACUs with custom patches and sporting a goatee, so one of the other team leaders (my driver was still trying to park the truck) went to the IPLOs defense and told the CSM, (didn't realize who he actually was) and corrected him on the spot for wearing yellow lenses (something that was supposedly verboten)

Needless to say the CSM said they are authorized in country because he says so and like the fact that my buddy had the balls to approach him about it, so he called up the General and had him come over and shoot the **** with us for a few minutes.

I only know it because I'm doing research for an Afghanistan / Iraq film and he's obviously one of the players besides McChrystal and Petraeus.

I'm not in the service. Pics are cool though!

This picture from basic is by far the best photograph I have of me. I never liked posing for pictures. But this one I enjoyed. It was so nice to be inside with air conditioning. I would have posed for as many pictures as they wanted.
