View Full Version : Have I been mistaken?

I have a co-worker that owns guns including an AR, so I supposed that he would be somewhat knowledgeable in the field of guns and gun laws.

I asked him if his AR, or OLL had a fixed mag or bullet button, he said he has neither and has a "top loading" version. If I'm not mistaken, isn't top loading pretty much a fixed mag?

Also, I told him that I was going to be building my .22 AR soon, and told him I was getting a spike's tactical upper. He replied with it being illegal unless you have top-loading. He also called the spikes upper a cheap chinese upper.

Sounds like he doesn't know much considering Spike's isn't chinese or cheap and that he has a "top loading" Ar15. I am guessing the "top loader" is the Bushmaster Carbon 15 that he bought at a gun shop and that same gun shop told him anything but top loading is illegal.

Your co-worker sounds like a tool.

Basically he probably has a Bushmaster Carbon 15 top loader and he doesn't know that Spike's Tactical builds great .22 LR uppers right here in America.

Next time you see this guy, kick him in the nads and tell him to grab a clue.

He has a DPMS lower. He said my .22 AR would be illegal since it has a magwell... Haha

Might want to print out a copy of the handy "CA AW ID Flowchart" from the link at the top of the page and double check that he doesn't have an illegally configured rifle even though it's top loading. If the receiver says "DPMS Panther" or any of the other listed DPMS models, then he's got some explaining to do to you...

Look at the upper right hand conrer of the page where it says "Welcome, The Cable Guy" There is a link right above that. Banned list is on CA DOJ web page.

The above link is the flowchart. The second page of the flowchart PDF has a list of all the banned makes and models by name on it.

Dremel out the magwell and install a bullet button and you're good to go :).

Kicking a moron in the nads is perfectly acceptable. However, if this violates your protocol, then simply punch him in the face. Either way, there needs to be a physical consequence to such stupidity.

The "arak" link is terribly outdated. I know BWeise has been planning to up date it but in the meantime, using it for the purposes of explaining the legality of open magwells isn't a good idea. It was written before the bullet button invention.

WOW....just....WOW....I thought you were actually kidding! Simple ignorance merits literally getting your testicles (& what comes w/ that: possiblility of infertility; VIOLENT,VIOLENT pain; future complications{some permanent}) SMASHED IN?????
You, my friend, ought to step back & think about those kinds of implications, JUST for not being "AR-savvy."....WOW, man. THAT'S pretty heavy, Bobby Hill.

No, not being AR savvy warrants a link to the AR15 FAQ or the AW chart. At my shop it warrants a 45 minute lecture (college level lecture hall, not 15 year old horny teen use a condom lecture) about the history of the OLL.

Spreading ignorant FUD is like a bear that starts to come around civilization. If you can get the bear to associate pain with humans, it will go away. I have found a paintball gun will work on bears. A kick to the nads or a swift punch to the breast works on humans (FUD is not limited to one gender).

If the bear keeps coming around and gets hooked on garbage, it must be destroyed. The same goes for humans. Except murder is illegal so it is best to limit their reproduction.

Yes this process is quite intense and is tough for some. However for proper wildlife management, quite necessary.

In my 3(+) decades on our beautiful planet, I've never heard advocation of "kicking someone in the gnads" by someone who actually is attached to a pair.(The ONLY 2 instances where this is acceptable is 1) If your life is in danger (like, if you don't have a gun & Chuck Zito assures you that you are about to meet your maker, AND (MORE LIKELY) if you are a woman trying to avoid assualt/rape). It's too late to try to justify what you already stood behind.:p Here's a scenario you'd be most likely involved in:

10%: Can I help you?
Customer:Yeah, those AR's on the wall are illegal unless they are top-loaders. A firearms expert AND a cop told me so. If I were you, I'd destroy them all before the stormtroopers come 'a stormtroopin' in & arrest you!
10%:"THAT'S MY PURSE!!!! I DON'T KNOW YOU!!!!!!!!" ***WWWHHHAAAM!!!!!!***

This is kind of like the death penalty I guess. You think it is wrong to murder the poor criminal or in this case Elmer Fud. I subscribe to the idea if Elmer Fud chooses to do the crime, then it was his choice to face the death penalty or in this case kicked in the nads or punched in the breast.

Note that a customer asking why I am selling assault weapons is not a Fud. A customer who should know better and after my speech tells me I am going to jail gets the kick or punch. And then I take their wallet and roll them out the back door.

It is the only way.

Wrong!!!!! I never said (or "thought," as you telepathically seemed to "know") that it was wrong to "murder the poor criminal." In fact, I am a strong proponent of the death penalty. ...But not for "poor criminals." Uuummm, let's try...............GOT IT!: Murderers; rapists; child molesters, and other various predators.

I subscribe to the idea if Elmer Fud chooses to do the crime, then it was his choice to face the death penalty or in this case kicked in the nads or punched in the breast.

You obviously subscribe to the idea that: simple, albeit annoying, IGNORANCE of certain firearms P.C.'s merits a punishment of (for a man) being "kicked in the nuts," and (for a woman) being punched in the titties. Not only is that kind of "belief" despicable, the acts of "punishment" you stand by are straight-up chickensh**."

[QUOTE]Note that a customer asking why I am selling assault weapons is not a Fud.

Okay, you got me on an insignificant (in this case) technicality. It's late. I'm tired.

A customer who should know better and after my speech tells me I am going to jail gets the kick or punch. And then I take their wallet and roll them out the back door.It is the only way.

Aaaahhhh.......I knew the backpedal route would be taken sooner or later! So, NOW you are saying that one who is still ignorant after you give them your "university-professor-type "education," THEN deserves the despicable, chickensh**, "punishment." Hmmmmmmm. And, of course, the backpedaling comes to a grand "crescendo" as your last ditch effort is to say "See! I was just joking the whole time!!!!"

Well, here's what we'll call "REALITY:"You see, with all due respect (for your beloved status on here; your history of being a strong part of the cause that helped us all in the OLL movement; and the fact that you are on The CalGuns Foundation Board), you have actually advocated violence against MEN and WOMEN....with no cause other than simple ignorance of penal codes. Seems to me that that's contradictory to what "WE" are supposed to be ALL ABOUT on CalGuns. My God, "punching a woman in the breasts?" Not only is that a cowardly and despicable act, but do you know what that has great potential to do? (besides the fact that it is, quite simply...HITTING A WOMAN!!!!!! If you had done this in jest, I would never have even commented. But you made it clear you were serious, so you essentially "outed" yourself. I've steered clear of arguments of (almost) every kind on here for quite some time , but this just struck a real sore nerve. I'm sure the majority of law-abiding, non-violent members here agree with me wholeheartedly. In fact, if it weren't for your status here on CalGuns, I'm sure you would have gotten the smackdown many times & from many people (including mods). Guess it's good to be who you "are." huh?

Please, PLEASE: if I am out of line or wrong in some way, SOMEONE (no, not YOU)
set me straight!!!!.....kicking men in the nuts & punching women in the breasts for NO valid reason......geeeeez! very, very sad.

Supersonic, where in my post do you gather I am being serious? Where in my absurd humor did you suddenly switch over to thinking I was being serious? Do you really think I punch or kick people in the nads, steal their wallets, and roll them out the door? The reason no one is "smacking me down" is they all realize it is a joke. Sure some people won't see the humor in the absurdity of using brute physical force on people for sometimes trivial matters. Some people do. Man, don't be so gullible and lighten up.

I guess I'm pretty "strict" in my moral codes when it comes to even joking about those 2 forms of "punishment." I was once the victim of an accidental 3-ft knee-drop in the nuts from my 116-lb. girl friend when we were wrestling. My sister, in 1987, was punched in the right breast very hard by a girl in high school who "didn't like her." In 1990, my sister died of complications from breast cancer directly related to that "high school punch." I have a VERY sick/twisted sense of humor, but I draw the line at things such as child molestation/kiddie-porn; being kicked in the swing-sack; being punched in the breast(s); dead babies; etc. It's pretty much open season on the rest. (OH - I probably left out quite a few: rape comes to mind!) So, if you were "onla' kiddan'," beautiful. GTG. However, I'm sure you can (now) understand my "sensitivity" toward those subjects being used as satire fodder. BTW, I DID point out that I realized the last bit of your "rant" ( for lack of better word) was in jest. It was quite obvious!;)

Liar.

You tried to "sweep the leg" last time I was in the shop. You then brandished your knife and devastatingly cut into numerous boxes, proclaiming you were going to "show me what [you] got." Those poor shipping boxes didn't stand a chance. "Animal parts" were flying everywhere and their internal fluids were getting on everything.
