View Full Version : Great Deal from Vang Comp on 18" 870 VCS Barrels
09-10-2008, 10:16 AM
Just wanted to repeat a deal posted by wildcard313 under Commercial Sales.
Vang Comp is selling their Remington 870 18" VCS ported barrels (bead sight) for $295 + $20 shipping. If you order two, shipping is free. Normal cost is $410. Even if you send in your own 870 barrel, the labor cost is $200 plus shipping both ways.
Though I have yet to shoot a Vang Comp 870, I have heard/read very good things about the VCS system. I am looking forward to getting mine now.

Just a follow up to my post from early September regarding the Vang Comp barrel sale.
I got my Vang Comp barrels for the Remington 870 last week (about 2 week turnaround time). I installed it and the Vang Comp barrel has lived up to its reputation.
Prior to getting the Vang Comp barrels, I used Federal Tactical 00 Buck loads in my 870 and got pretty tight groups out to 15 to 20 yards.
Well, with the Vang Comp barrel installed, I am getting groups nearly as good with just basic 00 Buck loads by Winchester now.
Sale is still on. I found that it was worth the purchase...and am glad that I picked up two.

agental1934, what type of finish (parkerized, blued, etc.) does your VC barrels have? also, does the barrels have any factory markings on it?

I believe all of the Remington factory markings are on the barrel, however, they are very faint. Though I believe that the barrel originally came with the original parkerized finish that comes on the Remington 870 Express, it seems like Vang smoothed down the finish (the lack of "bubbling" from the parkerizing process). This may also be why the Remington factory markings are very faint.
I hope that this provides you with the information you are looking for.
