It has all the possible spacers in the stock because it will be shot by my enormous pal Lou -- but then I'm gonna pull the spacers so I can shoot it.
The bolt was surprising easy to "dry cycle" from the shoulder. I had worried about the position of the bolt.

I shoot once a week. Where are you?
As I said before, the elbow pad is for a damaged ulna nerve. Never wore knee pads.
I guess that was a slight.
I'll feel bad all the way to the range with this $5500 rifle.

You allways make me laugh no matter what you say........ Dont make me take pics of my POS rifles and post them. Ohhh wait you dont own that rifle do you and you never will. Do you ever shoot past 100 yards except at 20foot steel targets? Writing a gun fires when the trigger is pulled, hits somewere down range, and looks cool doesnt take a rocket scientist to do bro.

Adam (formerly Cypiss) is OBSESSED with my elbow pad. Were you frightened by a football player as a child?
No pads: http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p54/Fasanoland/GUN_SHOOT_JML_0446.jpg
No pads:
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p54/Fasanoland/JFshootsP250.jpg
No pads:
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p54/Fasanoland/45Squirtgun.jpg
No pads:
http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p54/Fasanoland/MenXCR.jpg
So, to sum up: NO CONCRETE bench at Angeles tearing up my elbow, no pad. Not about tacti-cool. About no permanent nerve damage (wearing one NOW as I type) When you shoot literally 100s of thousands of rounds a year, those benches take their toll.
When you can get some real time behiind the go button you'll see the value of the pads, Adam.

Then why don't you have a cool job like me?
I get to shoot and own whatever I want. I'm sorry I don't get them all scratched up and dented like you do. Now, do you shoot them or just drag them behind your pickup on the way up to the range?
Seriously, I'm glad I make you laugh. That's why I post here, foolish man. So Some of the others can see stuff they MAY want to investigate and invest in some day.

Manners Composite stocks. If you have a bolt gun that needs a new stock. Get one, feels like AICS, 90% carbon, GAP (George) parked his truck on it and it didnt break. Very light and VERY strong! I love them.

Where are they sold out of?
It looks a lot like a stock design McMillan made on contract for a guy named Billy Martin for his "LOD" rifle. It was the first stock I ever shot that had that hook for your off hand under the stock for bone contact on your forearm muscles as a sort of living rear sandbag. It was one of the most accurate rifles I ever shot, and of course when teh article was done I moved on to other rifles by Macmillan was selling the stock until just about two years ago when they ran out. are they all made by different smiths?

Tom is a cool dude. Ive had around 6 or so of his stocks. You can check the pics, 2x MCS-Ts, 2x T1s, T2, GATs. His stuff is top notch. I like them more then MCM stocks. My HTG, the green rifle im thinking about switching it to a Manners GAT like my new M70 7wsm.
I love the 7wsm, 180gr VLDS 2900fps, .689 bc. Whats not to like? KICKs a little with no brake thow. My next build is around a Mak Tube Chassis. 1-7.5tw Deep Fluted Cut Rifled barrel, USO scope, PRS rear stock, MIAD grip, eather 243win or 6XC. Labeled "poor mans Tubb gun'

I have been thinking of making a MAK with Magpul sniper buttstock -- getting back to THIS thing -- when I was just a "regular" gun owner I would NEVER had a chance to try something like this out without dropping 5 large -- So I want the Calgunners to get to see it, too.

The Desert Tactical rifles do look good.
There were several questions asked on Snipers Hide that I was wondering if you can answer.
- Have you been able to cycle the bolt without breaking your cheek weld?
- Has Desert Tactical decided to make longer barrel options for these rifles (the current ones are too short to fully utilize the rounds in some peoples opinion)?
- What kind of accuracy are we seeing with these?
- How do the triggers feel after some use (this has been the weak point of some bullpup designs)?
Thank for posting the pics BTW.

The guys on the HIDE, Really like them. They are so much shorter then a comperable 338L. Is the 338 barrel 28? If it is, its a good lengh. I dont see the need for running a 32" barrel. They just get to be too long.

DRY FIRING -- AWKWARD but ALMOST
- Has Desert Tactical decided to make longer barrel options for these rifles (the current ones are too short to fully utilize the rounds in some peoples opinion)?
THIS IS PROTOTYPE # 2 more barrel lengths to come.
- What kind of accuracy are we seeing with these?
The test group that came with the gun was impressive -- NAVY SEALS thought it was very impressive. We'll have to get a better marksman than me to wring it out at the range.
- How do the triggers feel after some use (this has been the weak point of some bullpup designs)?
Again, after a the firing, we'll see.
Thank for posting the pics BTW.
I was really intereste din seeing what this gun would do in 308. Lou asked them to send it in 338 with a 308 caliber change. The 308 barel is VERY beefy. They claim it shoots 168s and 175 equally. We'll see.

That might be a bit of an exaggeration. Most people on the Hide haven't made up their minds one way or the other about these rifles.
The questions I asked were also asked on the Hide and I'm wondering if any of the concerns or issues were addressed.

That's one hell of a rifle and a lot of people don't know but the company was started by a fellow ELR shooter in the .408 community. It's performed exceptionally well and they've done a great job refining the design since it's debut at SHOT.

Running that bolt quickly while not breaking cheek weld would probably take some practice. Nonetheless, it looks like a killer rifle. Love the "quickchangeability" of barrels. Long range results I've seen posted have been stellar.

Keeping the cheek weld is partially academic -- 338 Lapua recoil and you're adjusting your head position with any rifle.
Who has some 338 lapua ammo here in So Cal? You wanna be the ones to shoot this rifle for groups?

Yes but when you do a quick barrel swap to 308, it is.;)
ETA: I'm comparing the 308 in Brandos post to Tony's boltwork. The 338, 408, et. al. are a different story.
