I'm a huge fan of pistol caliber carbines.

I just don't have any yet :(

What I really want some day:

- Marlin camp 45
- 9mm AR
- Ruger deerfield(?) carbine (think .44mag mini-14)

It's not exactly a carbine, but I always loved the idea of building a scaled down civil war gatling gun, and instead of .45-70, chamber it in .357mag/.38spl. Much cheaper to feed :)

I've always thought that a small carbine would be an ideal general purpose rifle. Easy to find/load/shoot ammo combined with better range and accuracy than a pistol, what's not to love?

We should definitely have a "Rifle Caliber Pistol" thread too (or do we already have one?).

Yes.
Armscor (Practical? not sure of model, bought used) and a Numrich Arms carbine kit bought from a CA resident who chose not to build on it for obvious reasons.

Is that stock upside down?

Don't think so. If you look at other stocked pistol designs like the broomhandle Mauser or VP70, they have similar stock profiles.

It looks like it facilitates access to the PG + trigger on a stocked pistol.

ETA - Linked photo not working - substituted. Also, you might have to watch the slide on a stock with a higher line

Not only is it right side up, the length of pull is over 16 inches. It's hardly a set up you'd fall in love with.

Had to have the barrel threaded and flash-hider added to stay over 26" when folded! Back of the flashhider reflects some of the tac light output back. It also casts a shadow that looks like a big *****... it's the "screw you" aiming point!

69Mach1,

Is that an older CA-94 with the FS without the cut in it and is that a Surefire 628?

Everything went together easily and without modification? I was under the impression that the rim of the light would push into the FS and it wouldn't install.

I think so on the first question, and I have no idea on the second. The flash light bezel is touching the fake suppressor and it's on real tight. No mods were done, just two sets of hands pushing the entire flash light housing in place and pinning it on.

I sure hope so. The sten stock has sort of a thumbhole in it, though you wouldn't really stick your thumb through and shoot... But, just to be on the safe side, I welded a washer in there. Now you have to wrap your thumb up and over the stock (the normal way anyways). Just got to build it to stay legal.

Does anyone own one of these? You can get them in 9mm or .40 and they will accept a variety of magazines. They're about $350 and you can get one that accepts G17 mags. How reliable are they? I'd like some feedback before I buy one. Thanks.

You'd have to come up with some kind of a mag lock/bullet button for it.

Stock doesn't collapse (it breaks down- cannot be fired when folded in half)...
http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/attachment.php?attachmentid=30115&d=1249673861
You'd either have to maglock the Sub2000 or negate the pistol grip (Monsterman style) with a fin of something that prevents you from wrapping your thumb around the rear of the grip.

A lot of negotiating with different dealers haha and a pretty shiny dime. They have come down a little in price over the past couple of months. This one is s/n under 1000 and its the first Cali legal. worked with Raddlock on the magazine lock and I pinned the stock myself so that it will no longer fold. now if I take it out of state it can easily be converted back to stock.

But seriously I would like to have a lightweight, short .45 carbine that I could use my sten or Thompson hi caps in. Don't like the MPA 45 too much, heavy. Can't seem to bring myself to pop $700 or so for an old Marlin Camp Carbine .45. Ahh but to live in a free state the options are much more appealing.

It has a stock on it, I am sure it is not in CA right now ;)

I own two of these. One is California compliant and one is a free state version such as this one but on military orders with approval I can bring this one into California but not for long as it soon will be a registered NFA SBR. Still will bring it in as an SBR with BATF and CDOJ approval. I love to tackle hard tasks and getting a "Dangerous Weapons Permit" is right up my alley. :)

BTW this has the folding stock and I can permanently remove it if I want.
