if you mean opening day of deer season? i will be there already,
going up tuesday or wed before opening day (opening day is sept 27), so stop by and say "hi".

sorry all the maps are packed up.
but just a bit past dorrington, but not quite to black something rd (or is it something black rd??), there is a cross dirt rd, we will be just past there on a hidden dirt rd at a pull out, south side of the hwy (aka east bound side), and just west of the ski resort on the hill side.
i wish i could give you the rd #'s....but i do not know them, just know the spot. big open area just off the hwy (and hidden from view) plenty of room for a good 20+ rigs to camp.:eek:

Even for phone photos, I get a look at the country and it looks nice up there. Maybe that forkie will get to be "monster" in a few years and you'll get another chance at him. I dont just shoot a deer 'cause he's legal. It does make it hard when you spend a lot of time (and maybe some money too) to only see one or two legal animals, and then they are small. My tag will probably go unfilled this year as the weather has been too warm, and not to mention the fact that I'm down with a virus that has kept me feeling bad for almost three weeks now.

There was no where near the amount of hunters there used to be on opening weekend.cabbage patch had probably the most.but no where near what it was even 5 yrs ago.higher up in elevation above lake alpine numbers where thin as well.of the 15 or so dear I seen none of them where even spooked.seamed to care less I was even there.I think the lack of hunting pressure decreases the opportunity to an extent.as far as missing the shot.no way not this time.I've got my 270 wsm dialed and lots of practice.I learned my lesson.perhaps we will get some weather.if not tag will probably go unfilled this year.got a line on 60 acres of private land in d3.if it works out plan on doing some invitations.land owner has some work he wants to do.plan on helping him out as much as possible.he says theirs dear,pig and tons of turkeys up there.

You know who you better call first. And I picked my some lead free shotgun slugs for later on this year. Other than that I am gearing up for the start of duck season.

I picked up 15 rounds for $60.00. I am going to go to the range this weekend to see how and where they shoot out of my slug gun. Here's what they look like;

true but I hope this buck can mature more and do a little breading. he was running with two does and a phawn. he was probably only a yearling.the population up there needs some mature bucks.maybee I'll get him next year when he is bigger.

a buddy of mines missed a shot at a good size 4pter on Sat using a slug gun a few miles west of black springs. I've also seen a massive 5pter as well on Sat but didn't get the chance to aim with AR or camera.

lucky you....what I saw was a fat/rude/natchezish warden lady, but on the other hand encountered a young real cool/respectful warden who seems or should be a calgunner type LEO and very admired my 257cal AR- Very likely an AR guy. But his partner seems to really be negative towards AR's or assault rifles especially for the hunting scenario.
