Saw the links in the sig, never seen Deadwood.
Guess I have to now.
BTW, I can turn and grind any tube you want.

Sabre Defense has them. Also, there's a guy on here selling one. HERE (http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/showthread.php?t=110403). He's a good guy to deal with. I bought his AA sidecharger for my 6.5 Bolt action build (are you copying me? :TFH:) I would've bought it, but I want a little more barrel, so I'm going with the AA 24" combo.

I'm building the same thing. Just cut the gas tube to stick out of the gas block by a half inch or so, and rotate it 180 degrees(so the gas hole in the tube points up). This will "turn off" the gas system. Then you always have the option to convert it back to semi someday, by replacing the gas tube, and installing it correctly.

Not sure what their wait time is right now though.
You might want to look around on the Grendel forums.

My friend has been waiting on his 6.5G Satern barrel for over 6 months, take that into consideration.

Just build a 260 or 6.5x47L in a Mak Tub gun man......

I'm not real sure why you'd want to go Grendel if you're going to go bolt action.
The only real advantage of the 6.5G is it fits in standard AR15 magwells.
You just want big mags in a bolt action? Is that what you're after?

Well...I was at one of the local gunshops here in town and they had some Vulcan lowers for sale.
So I broke down and bought one...I plan on making a 6.5 Grendel target rifle out of it.
I will be using a a side cocking American Spirit Arms upper and would like to know if anyone is making barrels in 6.5 Grendel for the AR uppers other then AA.
I do NOT want any gas holes in the barrel as I am building this to be a manualy operated rifle.
If anyone has any sorce of target grade barrels in the cal. for AR type guns please let me know.
NOOO Vulcans suck!!!!!!!!!!!!! At least you didnt buy the upper.

I have read that many times....can you please tell me WHY they suck?
Do you have first hand knowledge to a problem with them?
They look like any other lower I have seen outside of maybe some cosmetic differences other companies may use.
Please give me more details.
Vulcan/Hesse built a LOT of out of spec lowers. If it all comes together once you get it built, you'll be fine.
They're also a bit of a joke with their marketing campaign (lies) - you can check their website and see...
In general, they've been a lot of headaches for a lot of people.
Don't sweat it, though... even though the common phrase is, "a lower is a lower, just don't buy Vulcan/Hesse..." if your Vulcan/Hesse builds properly and works it will continue to run just fine.

I did not read every post in this thread...so..if it was covered please forgive me.
Why don't you just get a regular barrel with a gas port? You can have it temporarily plugged or get an adjustable gas block and turn off the gas. You could even plug a regular gas block and leave it at that. You will then have the option to put it back as is should be when the newness of a bolt action AR15 wears off.
You will probably see little difference between the bolt action version you want and a semi version. Get a U-15 stock and you can do slow fire with a Grendel 6.5 as it was designed to do.
As was said before...the 6.5 Grendel shines mainly because it fits in a standard length AR15 magazine. There are much faster/flatter shooting (barrel burning) 6.5 calibers out there.
