Went to go see how much a brand new Remington 700 SPS Tactical rifle would cost me, they couldn't find it but found a Remington 700 Light tactical rifle for 1100:eek: I thought they were around 400 dollars?
Well at the shop i went to they had a used Remington 700 Varmint with a Leopolde VRS scope on it for 865. Only 2 boxes shot through it, is that a good price? i guess the original owner was a long distance competitor, something i am interested in doing.

FWIW, I paid about $650.00 for my Rem 700 VLS in 6mm Remington with laminate stock, there's a like new VLS in 308 for sale in Pacifica for the same amount.

LTR is a different rifle:

From an internet retailer, you should be able to get a standard varmint or SPS tactical for mid to high 500s.

I don't know who's been saying $400... $600 is more realistic, maybe $550 on a good day (otd).

The VTR is very different.

The SPS Varmint has been a bit tough to find of late. Give a run at the usual online brokers.

Buds has had them in stock for the last little while:

I've been watching this for a bit - sorely tempted - but I'm trying to not buy any more guns this year...

They have also have the laminates, and the SPS tacticals.

You probably got a decent deal. What kind of reticle does the scope have in it?

I don't know if that 3.5-10 is made anymore, but it came with a couple different reticles, IIRC.

If the barrel isn't shot out, it's a very good deal. That scope would fetch about $500 on its own.

Try removing the stock from the action (just two bolts) and inspect it. Any metal in the stock? Take a photo, too.

It might have a better than standard stock, too.

the shop selling it said the guy who owned it only shot 40 rounds through it. He was a long distance competitor and i guess his wife got cancer so he gave up the sport. I looked at it pretty good and its hella clean, the bolt looks just slightly used.

Discount gun mart was able to find me a 700 SPS Varmint for $599. Not great, but at least they could get it. Started the DROS right away and I picked it up in 10 days.

Perfect if your planning on changing the stock like i was.

Dont forget manners. He makes some great stocks without the wait of McM. Nonetheless, I ordered an A5 yesterday and in 5 months, I'll tell you how it is!
