Dear Dan,
I am in opposition to this bill. The good news is that AB 2062 has been held by the senate appropriations committee on their suspense file. In other words, it is almost certain that the bill is dead for the year. In addition, AB 2235 and AB 2948 were also placed on appropriations suspense file. Thanks for writing in!
Sincerely,
Doug

Sen. Runner claimed he was against the bill to me and atleast one other Calgunner but when the vote came up he he didn't cast a vote in favor for or even agianst
A non vote is as good as a no vote when opposing a bill.
The sad reality is many of our "friends are in areas" where they have to watch their votes.
Non votes are a concern when we are trying to get something passed.

Email back from Runner to me said;
Dear Mr. and Mrs. Hawk1:
Thank you for your correspondence expressing your opposition to Assembly Bill 2062 (DeLeon), which would require, beginning July 1, 2009, that any person who sells or transfers more than 50 rounds of handgun ammunition in any month to register as a handgun ammunition vendor, and authorizes, beginning March 1, 2011, any person 21 years of age or older to obtain a handgun ammunition purchase permit.
I oppose this bill because I believe it creates another layer of burdensome regulations on both businesses and gun owners. Like other gun control regulations, this bill will burden only law abiding gun owners, not criminals, who will continue to purchase guns and ammunition by non-legal means. In fact, a similar program was tried and abandoned in the 1960’s after it was found to have no impact on crime rates.
While the Democrats in the Capitol continue to resist tougher sentencing law that would effectively keep violent felons off the street, they push for stricter gun laws that would make it more difficult for law abiding citizens to protect themselves. I believe this is the wrong approach and will continue to fight for right for law abiding citizens to own guns.
AB 2062 passed Senate Public Safety 3-2, with all Democrats supporting the bill and both Republicans against the bill. You may be pleased to know that it was held in the Senate Appropriations Committee. You may monitor the progress of all bills being considered by the Legislature at www.sen.ca.gov/runner.
Again, thank you for taking the time to share your concerns with me. Please do not hesitate to contact me in the future regarding legislative issues of concern to you. It is an honor to serve you in the California State Senate.
Sincerely,
GEORGE C. RUNNER, JR.
Senator, 17th District

That's almost the same letter I got back from him too. And his wife is opposed to gun control laws/bills as well! (same area, different legislature)
Also Mr. Tom McClintock as well.

If it hadn't been for AH NOLD, Tom McClintock would have been our next governor, which means things would probably be better in Sac and Cali. I used to live in Simi Valley, which was/is Tom's area. I'm not a big fan of politicians, so when I hear nothing but compliments about a politician I take notice, and I heard nothing but good things about Tom McClintock!
