I just bought a Lee Loader in 9mm and I'm having a puzzling problem. After deprimeing, sizing, priming, and powdering, I seat the bullet and it leans to one side. I do chamfer the inside 3-4 turns before seating but the problem continues.
Any suggestions on how to remedy this? I'm using Hornady 100 grain FMJ.
-Thanks

ok i have done this on 9mm too. it does not happen all the time. here are a couple of things to do.

1. make sure when you put the charged case in the safety chamber it is centered.

2. when you put the die over the shell do it carefully

3. make sure you push down the bullet by hand first.

4. when you seat the bullet. Seat it deap enough to straighten the round

sometimes i found that if i adjusted the die to make sure it was seated a tad small the round would seat straight.

This sad part is actually a little common on 9mm. try not chamfering the round. as this is best for lead ammo. The problem your having is the bullet is barely being started and then it stops. make sure your in specs but try seating it deeper

...and if you are or have used lubed lead bullets, inspect your seating portion of your die and make sure there isn't some gunk stuck on it that is contributing to your bullet alignment problems.

/but I am curious just how you can manage this, seating a typical bullet. The contact area between bullet and brass sure seems like it wo uld preclude such a misalignment.

id have to look at my die. but from what i saw last time i messed with just this 9mm kit.

when you tap in the case to size it. It goes all the way in the die. then you tap it loose and seat the primer. Now the case is loose. When you put it in the base its loose. When you put the die over it. its loose because its not all the way up the die. So is easy to mis align. then when you push down on the bullet its snug tight halfway down to where the case mouth would be then its a little loose because the case is not all the way in.

So you think ok. let me try this. then you size a case. Leave the case in the die. Then you seat a primer. Then charge the case. Then you tap in a bullet. and think ok now i got it. but now you have a loaded round stuck in the die. So the only way around it is to tap the bullet further into free the round. Then comes out a totally messed up useless round.

As far as i know this problem is just with smaller cases. I have a bunch of lee loaders. in larger cases you dont have this problem. just 9mm and smaller cases.

Is the mouth getting flared by the powder die? Are you using a powder die or are you flaring the mouth?

another thing i find the lee loader bullet seating depth sems to wander if i am really rolling so put a lockwasher in there between the big wheel and the primer base

i made about 100 30 carbines with one of them till i got dies

the classic lee loader really has a old timey feel

its odd they are sitting angled what is your oal?

powder die???

no such thing

another problem is the bullet seater itself. if you notice on the inside its kinda rounded. meant for well rounded bullets. it you use flat tips or hps they wont really seat correctly

Is the bottom of the safety chamber which the brass is resting on suppose to be completely flat and level or is it suppose to have a slope towards the center? I suspect one problem is that the brass is tilted since the bottom is not level so the bullet is seating incorrectly. I'll just return it to Lee if this is the case.

The case should sit flat on the safety chamber. What you might want to try is putting a washer in the safety chamber. This will give you an idea. as the washer should fix it to where the brass is standing straight. In all though sounds like you may want to exchange it for another.

ok but your missing the point this is a lee loader. Do you know what a lee loader is. There is no such thing as a powder die with a lee loader as their is only one die that is used for everything. should i post a picture of a lee loader or do you want to type in lee loader on google images. Get back to me when you get a clue
