Hey there fellow calgunners,
Iam going up to Ice house for a couple days and taking a few orphan young men to go plink for a little bit..
1. Iam I allowed to go target practice up there in the forrest?
2. If so, what are the restrictions?
3. Iam I alowed to carry a loaded side arm?

Where u headed? You will need to keep yourself very warm if staying overnite. We camped at Big Bend, it was hella cold the whole nite .
We took a blanket & comforter, but it was no comfort at all.
Unless your are open carrying, you can keep the piece only at the camp site. You cant walk around with it concealed. best thing is to call the ranger station and verify or got to their website. But i am sure someone here is more knowledgeable about these matters.
for shooting in BLM land, just call em as there may be some restrictions. BLM over in Nevada told me 4th of July that they had restrictions. I think someone said that rules about target shooting may be different if you are in the Natn'l forest.

:xeno:...Sorry I couldn’t resist. I am not familiar with that area, but here are a few threads with a similar topic.
Edit: I have open carried many times in the El Dorado National Forrest. Mostly in the Silver Lake area. I have also open carried in the Stanislaus National Forrest, mostly above Strawberry.
There are some other places I have carried as well. I have done some plinking up by Silver Lake. It varies from area to area. Also, another thing to keep in mind, one of those fires was started by a target shooter and I have heard that they are a little touchy about it right now.

Don't shoot (plink) at an established campground or the lakeside.
There are lots of places near Ice House to safely shoot. Granite Springs Road has a nice burnt out stretch that has a couple shooting spots right near the road.
