I was trolling on the gun auction sites, looking for a Ruger Mk III or 22/45. I looked at several offerings that were pretty good and in my price range. However, almost all of them said, "Due to recent gun law changes in CA, we cannot ship to CA. If you are from CA, please do not bid."

What did I miss?

A law that creates more paperwork for out of state sellers to sell to a CA customer.

There's actually a fairly inspiring thread where somebody came here *****ing that some shop in... I want to say New York? listed a gun on gunbroker and mentioned in the listing refusal to sell to CA. The shop heard about the thread and politely defended his reasoning. Once he got to talking to some of the members about exactly what this new law is and how it works, and how he's missing out on a large market, he reversed his policies and now is happy to sell to us! I'm trying to find the thread now, but not having any luck yet...

here's a link to the thread about Upstate Armory, the dealer that changed his tune about selling to CA.
