Hey guys,

I have a Winchester 1300 and would like to try loading it up with Aguila mini-shells for fun and frivolity.

Does anyone know where I can LOCALLY find some of these elusive diminutives in the greater Bay Area?

Antioch Armory has them.

City Arms in Pacifica has them (just saw them there last week).

Years ago I bought some at Highbridge, I don't know for sure it they still carry them.

are the mini shells any good for defence or are they underpowered?

To my knowledge, they're about half-power, and do not reliably feed on most shotguns. The Winchester 1300 has a reputation for feeding them perfectly, however.

I'd say they'll be good for fun/plinking/pest control but I'd never trust my life to them.

Chabot Gun Club has both Aguila mini slug and buck at reasonable prices.

They are only open from Fridays to Mondays, however.

Ya know, I never thought to check the shotgun clubs! Maybe Livermore has them?

Thanks Fudd!

You'll get a kick out of them little Aguila shot shell loads. When they are fired out the barrel you can hear little, "plink dink plinks" going thru the tube. There fun for the whole family.

I;ve made my own mini shells once I blew the crimp off reloads. I use a roll crimp and a plactic shotcup that has no crush area. They work just the same.

I buy them at the gun show. There are usually dealers at the SJ gun show selling them. Outdoormarksman used to carry them, but don't seem to have them any more.

I've got a short review of mini-shells in my 1300 Defender here:

They worked fine, though ejection is a bit weak due to the short case length and the pattern got sparse pretty quickly. I didn't have any problems with them in mine, and recoil was light.

They are the best round... ever. Totally awesome. All the power, half the kick, 1.5x the capacity... and they feed perfectly in my Mossberg 500's. :D

They feed in my Mossy 500, but only if you roll the rifle over to the side while pumping, otherwise they missfeed. No good for anything but range fun. Too bad!

ah ok,
ive seen the mod to load them, but you have to drill & tap the receiver:eek:

gonna order some to try out then, probably good for the first timers at the range :D

thanks

I got a box and they were a kick to shoot. My Benelli Super Nova had no problems with them. Like a 22 for shotguns.
Oh yeah forgot to mention, I got mine from Midway.
