The indoor range that is convenient for me doesn't allow FMJ rounds due to a 15 yd backstop and possible splashback.
Are there any sources of factory loaded ammo that is not jacketed? I swear I remember this range selling me commercial reloads and I do not recall the bullet being lead, so it must be plated. Is there a difference between a plated bullet and a FMJ or TMJ or the like? Am I missing something here?

Yes.
The plated bullet has no exposed lead.
Many FMJ bullets have an open base which vaporizes lead as the bullet goes down the barrel.
Plated bullets behave more like cast bullets rather than jacketed bullets when they hit hard surfaces.
Jacketed bullets will occaisionally spit jacket fragments back at the shooter.
Plated and cast bullets just tend to flatten out but will also spit fragments if the angles are right.
Do they want you to only shoot sintered bullets?

I go to an indoor range to and they sell reloads for it, or you can buy "Frangible" ammo that they should have no problem with. I got some thru Sportmans guide.
By the way where is the range?

I went to the range today. The ammo they provided me was TMJ. I had assumed they meant absolutely no jacketed ammo and only lead. This is not the case, as only FMJ is prohibited. I now know what TMJ is, as compared to FMJ. Please excuse my n00biness. :)
(The range's backstop is only at 15 yards, hence the ammo type prohibition. I read that FMJ should only be shot at steel beyond 25 yards, otherwise the jacket may fragment off the round and ricochet back to the shooter or anyone else on the line.)
